She was turning my life upside down.
She'd wait for me outside the complex.
She'd follow me to work.
She hung around like the plague.
"Come on Gee,"she said in a tinkly voice. "You mean to tell me we can't be friends?"
"Precisely," I sneered, shrugging further into my jacket. Bone-chilling wind gusted in my face, leaving it numbly sore.
"We used to be the best of friends," she pouted.
"And then you ruined my life."
She smiled and said, "Don't you see Gerard? You ruined your own life. I'm just a nail jammed through the imaginary wall that is your life."
I scoffed. Her use of metaphor was dismal at best, and the fact that she refused to accept any responsibilty for the things she'd done to me was enough to make me burst. I closed my eyes, and through gritted teeth, I replied, "You are a prentious bitch."
"Maybe so," she replied, "but you have to admit, you had some of your best times with me."
Maybe when I was a kid, but now I could look at that statement and laugh. She had also contributed to my worst times, and a new person had replaced all, if any, of my fond memories of Emily with newer, better ones.
"Not anymore," I said.
"Oh right," she sighed. "That Frank boy. Bit of a pamsy if you ask me.
"Shut the fuck up," I shot back. "He is a thousand times better than you will ever be."
She pursed her lips, her eyes narrowing in anger.
"We can't be having any of that," she said, "Frank, I'm afraid, is going to have to go."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I sneered.
"Frank is ruining all of our fun. We'll have to get him to leave."
+++
"Hey," Frank said cheerfully as I trudged through the door. "Let's get you out of those wet clothes."
I pulled my jacket off, and he took it in his arms. I watched as he went to go put it in the dryer, the soft air around him was truly beautiful. He'd gotten a new tattoo since Emily first arrived, a scorpion high up on his neck. I told him not to get it because he wouldn't be able to get a job, but now it looked endearing and almost adorable. It peaked out of his sweater, making me smile. I slipped off my wset pants and put on a pair of sweats, doing the same with my sweater and shirt. The floor was cold against my feet, my goosebumps rising up from my ankles. I shivered. The apartment was always cold in the fall and winter. Usually it would bother me, but now was the first time I'd have another person to warm me up.
We sat on the couch with a blanket tossed over us. His body was warm and soft, seemingly melting into mine. I kissed his forehead, smiling to myself. What a wonderful human being. There was one channel that had already begun playing christmas specials. We snuggled into each other as the grinch slunk across the small screen.
"Frank," I whispered.
"Yes Gerard?" he replied, his eyes following the green antagonist.
"Promise not to leave me," I said, feeling the sense of panic rushing back through me as I thought of what Emily had said. I didn't know what she was going to do, but considering her track record she wasn't going to fight fair.
"Of course I won't," he smiled, kissing me delicately.
Things were alright. Things were going to be okay for now.

Fiksi Penggemar'He was different, right off the bat. You could just tell there was something wrong with him. His eyes were too sunken in, and glassy. He was oddly pale for the burning summer. He was too jumpy, and anxious. He was so... Strange. Normally I didn't...
