Claire's P.O.V

I fell back into darkness. I didn't like it. It was scary. It wasn't blue this time. It was all black. Nothing to be seen, but blackness. I couldn't even make out the silhouette of my hand.

It was freezing in this oblivion. It was freezing but I could bear it. The cold didn't bother me. It didn't make me shiver. My teeth weren't chattering. My skin wasn't growing cold bumps.

"Claire!" A voice of desperation shouted for me. I couldn't find who it was, nor did the voice seem the least bit familiar.

"Claire, control it!" I didn't know how to obey the voice. I didn't even know what it wanted to me to control. Magic? Maybe. But that was next to impossible.

"Take control of me, take control of us," it continued to speak to me. I didn't understand. I was beyond confused. Like I was driven into a dead end.

"You must..." The sentence was cut short by another voice calling out to me.

"Yes, allow me to feast on your body," it was deep and dry. It sounded like owner of the voice hadn't drank water for decades. It was malicious, and when a laugh echoed through the vast darkness, I thought it was the incarnation of Satan speaking to me.

"No Claire," I let go of all my emotions. I was just there, floating in nothingness. I just gave up. This wasn't meant for me. This life of magic and supernaturals. It was all so surreal.

"Yes, yes, yes," her chants taunted me. They scared me. They shook me to the core. And if it was even possible, the air got colder.

"Just give up, I'll take your body and I shall reunite with your mother, she is my rightful owner,"

My mother? Owner?

"For generations I have been passed through this bloodline of yours, but your mother has been the perfect carrier of me," she stopped for a while to take a breath and to release another malicious laugh.

"Then she got pregnant with you, and as you grew you slowly depleted her magic and took it as your own,"

I closed my eyes and let myself float in the nothingness of this oblivion. I let go of myself. Her taunting grew on me. It scared me. No, scared was an understatement. It was horrific, the malicious laughs and the air was numbing and glacial.

"Claire, don't fall victim to her, you've got to tame us. You've got to allow us to rest in your body. To reside there for as long as you shall live,"

My body? Was she saying my body could be a home to her, to them? To us? No, it couldn't be. There was nothing special about me that could make someone comfortable.

"We are you, you need to accept that and us!" She was strict this time. When she finished her sentence the air was shook by the evil laugh of my body's companion.

"Take control," it was an order. No room for arguments. It was something I must adhere to. No doubt about it.

"Claire!" My eyes snapped open and I was met with eyes like the tranquil sky. I looked around, confused. I was back in the room Cade left me in. The ice still making layers over itself.

He brought his hand to my face and cupped it. He smiled reassuringly at me to let me know that everything will be okay. That we'll get past this. That we will overcome this obstacle.

A small smile, a relieved one, crossed his features as I took in his appearance. I watched as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed.
