"Be Afraid of the calmest person in the room"
❣︎For the most part, the estate remained buzzing with life. Workers walking from corridor to corridor figuring out ways to solve the last problem or creating another one, and for the majority orders being thrown around by the boss; Hawthrone who at the moment was in quite the dilemma with some low budget scum off of the street.
"You fucking heathen, the minute I get ahold of you I will kill you and your family and make waste of your properties, not even a dog like myself would want them two cents of shit you have!!"
His threats surely didn't go unheard, Anyone in the right mind rather be Buried alive then be on the other end of the call, in one swift motion he threw the phone across the room causing it to shatter against the wall and crumble to the ground, well that's new she thought usually he stomped on the phone it was much more professional he always said, could it be this was unprofessional?
after various scenarios of watching him obliterate his telephones, he was onto his third phone of this month and it was only the 16th, the young vixen thought, sauntering over to the destroyed device and picking up its dismantled pieces not caring for the shards of glass that carved into her small gilded hands
"Could you believe this..." Blake Hawthorne Let out exasperated as She walked over to Jeremy one of the many guards in Hawthrone's office, placing the old phone in his hands as he handed her a new one
"Tha-That grumpy pig is still looking for my money" he retched
she walked over to his desk seeing he was too aggravated to care for the new phone in his possession and placed it down"I'm too nice" he breathed closing his eyes and bringing his hand to his forehead " Im too nice! I gave that man three days to pay his debts in full," he shouted holding up three long digits "Am I getting soft is that the problem" he seethed eyes dilating and his movements becoming more rigid. This worried her, she was there to help him deal with his issues and As of the moment it was hard to depict if it was her turn to stand up to the occasion, usually, Hawthrone had her do much more risky jobs.
"I'll find him" she croaked Her thick accent mixed with a suave rasp, like a fragmented rock in a hessian sack, moving and grinding against each other, somehow it complimented her dark aesthetic giving the "don't fuck with me" vibe and that had most people quivering or sauntered in appeased goosebumps. It was actual luck to have ever had the chance to hear her speak and not be the day you die,
She wasn't a mute she figured that speaking was for the weak it was a chance to cause distractions and make time fly but in a world of sin and horror even if tomorrow came in seconds the guilt didn't let her have that so she preferred silence, boredom, and sadness because murderers didn't deserve any more then what they had been given.
"Don't worry Doll I already sent some men to ki-" his face turned red as the phone interrupted his speech with one of his most prized possessions that being her.
answering he put the phone to his ear "Make it quick" he seethed
he was known to be a short-tempered man but never described as bipolar until now his angry exterior changed to a bright smile in seconds"Oh, you don't say what a shame Mhm okay-Bye"
His bright smile turned to a devilish grin "like I was saying I sent your partner to kill him and the job is done and guess what" he cheered knowing he wasn't going to get an answer back from her which was one of the things he loved the most "I got the money he owed me and more, truely a great day" .She starred at him amused, he was certainly something from another world. Catalya knew Blake Hawthorne since a very young age but never felt a threat from him even after working for him for the past 6 years under his watch she never felt intimidated, he sure was a scary man to many others but to her he was just a husband, father, great businessman, and the absolute leader of the crime scheme he runs.
Doing what he does best and that's making his money worth, he was the true definition of the boogeyman you had to see him in action to believe it.
Hawthorne stood proud and did whatever he wanted no one was sure if he said, "Yes," to anything, it was always a "maybe" with a cheeky grin. Yet he always came through... it was always a warm possibility, something loving, inviting. He was the kind of guy that wouldn't take an order but never needed to; whatever he was supposed to do, he did it. He told bad jokes and danced with moves humanity hasn't had the pleasure of seeing for some time - and in her embarrassment, the young lady never loved him more.
He was the kind of guy to ask her to guess which hand the ring was in, hiding his nerves behind an angel's bluff.
Cattleya a tormented soul that has taken care of him and his family for better or for worse she knew the ins and the out of the cooperation, the legal and the illegal. she took care of any bump on the road even if it guaranteed her immediate death.
This was her way of repaying her family for what she had done and it was only fair that her life is on the line for them especially if she wants to live up to her father's expectations.
Hawthorne watched her grow from holding her father's hands to becoming empty and void of life but this has made her into a better one man army. It was hard for everyone when cataleya's family had been murdered and yet she survived.
They felt compelled to keeping eyes on her for all of the first year, she had fallen into a black hole of submission into a place of no returns yet she came back crawling from that abyss only to stand weak and mutilated until her backbone grew stronger and a pair of balls dropped quickly. She gained agility, intelligence, and no emotion. from being a girl that cried when her knee got scraped to being a woman that got shot four times and still got out alive with not a crack in her mask.
All she cared about was the Hawthorne family so anything beyond that was dead to her. she was forever in debt to the man that went to her country and picked her up from the ground and brought her to America to start over. Even though there is technically only one type of death, the one that her family had endured. But in reality, she had died some time ago.
she used to want to live and find who did it but soon the need, want, and aspiration to be alive wasn't necessary.
Her heart still beats, though only as a cold pump, working despite her spark of life being extinguished. The world around her is icy, every day overcast no matter what the weather is outside. People move, cars fill the streets, the yellow street-lamps still shine at night, yet everything seems pixilated, unreal, and distant. Happiness lurks as a memory, every day feeling more like an illusion and slipping further out of reach.
Every face she sees is as welcoming as a gun and their smiles are the bullets - everything they do is just another heap of dirt over her mental coffin. only needing one brilliant heavenly shaft of light to bring her home, without it she cannot live - death is preferable then to be wandering a barren maze for eternity, but her task here on earth wasn't over yet, its obvious after the countless amount of times she has flatlined it would have led to her vanishment of earth but yet here she stands in the office of the man she sees as a god.
"2:00 pm sir"
she rasped trying not to allow the memories to overflow and eat at her subconscious she had a job to do she wasn't important now or ever again. bringing him back to reality "oh shit oh shit oh shit Linda is so going to kill me now" he rushed getting up from his seat and running out of the office
She stayed behind grabbing his phone and wallet sending a quick message to Benjamin his personal driver to be ready.
She blatantly walked down the hall keeping her eyes on the floor it took a lot of respect to look someone in the eyes and respect was the one word she lived by seeing every twenty-six tiles a pair of feet vowing their lives to The Hawthorne family, just like her father had done.......
just like she will do from now until forever.•
