The desk vibrated violently as I tapped away at my computer. I paused, glaring around my bedroom almost hoping to find the culprit hidden behind my potted plant, but I knew too well for that. My sister's insanely annoying boyfriend turned fiancée was downstairs playing with his machines again. And I'd had enough. Taking my bad mood with me, I marched down one of the many corridors in Stark Tower and entered the elevator.

"Hello again, Miss Potts. What level can I take you to?" asked Jarvis politely.

"Tony's workshop, I've had enough of this Jarvis! What is he doing?"

"Mr Stark is updating his suit. I believe he is installing a coffee machine near the rear thruster which will allow him to stay hydrated during missions."

At least it wasn't a distillery of some sort. I rolled my eyes and stepped out into the workshop. It was a large room, even for Stark's standards. There were gigantic glass windows to the left showing me the cloudy New York cityscape. The Chrysler building stood proudly to the left.

As I made my way across the room I couldn't help but laugh to myself. How could a genius be so messy?
Equipment was scattered everywhere. Pieces of metal formed small mountain piles on many tables. There were empty scotch glasses on various surfaces which Butterfingers and Dummy were cleaning away. Nearby a grease covered Tony popped out from behind his suit.

"If it isn't my soon-to-be-sister-in-la...?"

"I can't concentrate!" I snapped, cutting his sentence off, "I'm supposed to be finishing off this outrageous essay for SHIELD and you're down here making it impossible."

"I told you to forget that damn thing and relax. I can call my masseur if you...."

"Tony, you know full well that Fury won't be pleased if that document isn't on his desk in the next two hours."

"Well you do my part for me yeah? Or call Rogers and get him to write it, I'm sure he has nothing better to do."

Before I could argue, the elevator door opened once more and to my relief out walked Bruce Banner in his usual purple shirt attire.

"Can you please talk some sense into this moron?" I begged, throwing Bruce a desperate look.

"It's about the essay isn't it?"

"I'm not writing 5000 words on our strengths and weaknesses as a team," growled Tony, throwing a spanner at my head, as if somehow it was my fault that Fury had set this ridiculous task. I used my power to halt the object mid-air and throw it to the floor.

"And I'm certainly not explaining how my past has impacted me as a team member."

But I wasn't paying attention now. The cloudy sky outside had darkened. Spurs of lightning were flashing across the floor of the workshop.
I could see it so clearly - the highest hill closest to my childhood house. My young child-self running and playing as I made my way to the summit. I took no notice of the black clouds and low rumbling thunder as I climbed through the branches of the tallest tree, right to the top where I sat. I paused, admiring my house from afar. And then it happened. The moment that changed my life. There was a sharp rumbling, a bright light, and pain like I'd never felt. I screamed but my lungs were frozen in terror and pain. Another rumble and flash, and I was sure I was dying. I couldn't feel my body anymore. I could only hear the distant shouts of Pepper, calling me to come home.

"Rose... hey... Rose?"

Bruce's voice brought me back to reality. They were both looking at me worriedly. Neither knowing whether to attempt to touch me and risk a zap.

"I'm sorry... I just...I zoned out."

"It's that damn essay," shouted Tony, "How are any of us supposed to keep our sanity with Fury having us do homework? We're Avengers not Fury's servants."

"Are you okay?" whispered Bruce, as Tony continued to vent.

"I just had a flashback."

"Of when you got your powers?"

"Yeah," I muttered, looking at the small zaps of electricity sparking from my hands. My body could sense the growing electricity from the storm outside.
Bruce didn't pry any further, he shot me a small smile and then paced to his corner of the room. He'd obviously finished his essay and was now reaping the benefits.

I left them to their own devices as I made my way upstairs. I told Jarvis 'the Avengers floor' of the Stark Tower. I couldn't help but shudder as I thought of that last 'normal' memory I had. Now I had to live with 'unhuman' abilities which SHIELD had found appealing. The lightning strikes had changed the composition of my body. I was now a self-sufficient electricity source and could use my electricity for pretty much anything.

I could blast electrical beams, teleport and fly using my natural charge, power electric objects, and zap anyone who touched my skin.
Before I could ponder any further my sister appeared from the team kitchen.

"There you are Rose. I've been looking everywhere."

"I was down arguing with Tony," I muttered, throwing her a half-angry half-amused glare. "You better convince him to complete that essay, Fury will have his head."

She nodded, "That's why I was looking for you. Fury wants to see you."

I growled. This was my day off. What could he possibly want?

"1pm at his office."

I nodded and made my way to the lounge room. The sight itself was adorable.

Steve was sitting innocently starring at the gigantic TV screen. A bowl of popcorn was balanced on his lap, and a small coffee cup was grasped in his huge hand. It was his expression however that had me smiling. His eyes were like domes and his mouth was slightly open, forming a 'O' shape. He looked almost childlike. But that wouldn't last.
I tiptoed behind him using me best stealth techniques. With my middle finger, I stretched out, and touched his neck ever so slightly. He jumped violently, letting out a cry of shock.

"Not again," he moaned with a half-smile as I sat next to him and looked towards to screen. He was watching Toy Story, just like I'd told him to earlier this morning.

"Are you liking it?"

"It's very informative," he nodded, still rubbing his neck where I'd zapped him.

I giggled to myself. And then paused, Steve must have already finished his essay.

"I have a meeting with Fury in an half an hour"

"Oh yeah? What's it concerning?" He asked, pausing the movie mid-scene.

"Don't have a clue."

"Did you want me to come with you?"

I glanced over at him. He was honestly the sweetest man I'd even met.

"As much as I'd love you too, you'd be bored, stay and finish you're movie."

"You're more important than a movie."

My heart thundered in my chest. He'd been making small comments like this all week. And I'd been putting it down to his usual nice demeanour. But when I turned to look at him again, his eyes were even softer than usual.

I moved closer, unsure of what I was doing myself. We were inches apart. And then he did something I thought Steve Rogers never would. He leaned forward and pressed his lips gently to mine.
