A/N – Hey guys and gals, here it is! Sorry it took so long! I've had so much fun writing this. The chapter just kept growing and growing so I've split it into two parts. Hope you enjoy!

................................................................................................................................

There were one hundred things racing through my mind. One hundred important things. Things that I had never considered until now, at the end of everything I knew and loved. Blackness started to overcome my senses, but I did everything I could to fight. Was there any point? It was over. I'd never get to see Pepper dressed in white and sparkling like a diamond on her wedding day. Or my very own niece or nephew. I wouldn't get to say goodbye to my mum. I wouldn't ever make it back to earth.

12 hours prior

"My lord, there's a fleet of enemy ships approaching our borders," an Asgardian soldier whispered quietly to Odin and Thor, as we all sat silently.

Loki and I had received a small chiding for sneaking away, yet the team had seemed far more concerned with discussing defense tactics. By the sounds of it, Asgard had only just fully recovered form the Dark Elves invasion.

Odin nodded and shared a glance with Thor.

"The North Quadrant will be the main point of attack," announced Thor. "We'll position ourselves along the rim of the boundary line..."

"You can't assume they won't stage a sneak attack through Beygja Wood or along the coastline," Loki interrupted.

"The Warriors Three and Sif have agreed to cover Beygja with a small force. There are few who know the woods as well as them. As for the coastline, Heimdall will keep watch. We'll position five hundred soldiers there as a precaution," said Odin.

"Natasha, Bruce and I will take the high grounds as Thor has directed," said Clint, giving him a nod.

"Thor and I will cover where is most needed," stated Odin.

"And the Tin Man, Captain Rogers and Lady Potts will guard the Bifrost," Thor stated.

That seemed fair enough. Tony, Steve and I were extremely well adapted to working with each other. Enough to know each other's strengths and weaknesses as well as our own.

I jumped in shock as Loki growled beside me.

"Absolutely not! I'm not being anywhere without Rose."

Odin looked at his adoptive son quizzically.

"We need you in the Treasure Room, Loki. There are things in that vault that even Thanos cannot comprehend," Odin muttered, "I trust you remember that well enough"

"But I..."

"That's enough discussion," murmured Odin.

"I will not...."

"Enough!" bellowed Odin, making Loki's jaw clench.

"I want her by my side!" shouted Loki, equally as furious.

"I'm not risking the safety of the Treasure Vault over your dearest Midgardian!"

The team barely breathed as Loki let out another growl. Thor was the only one who seemed undaunted. He'd obviously seen plenty of Odin/Loki showdowns.

"She is far more then..." Loki began, but Odin was already bellowing.

"This is a discussion for another time!"

"Another time? This could be the last time!"

"I have seen a millennia worth of wars, and I do not plan that to end today," Odin stated quietly.
