Chapter Seventeen

Delaney smiled as she walked along the back hallways of the venue behind the stage to make her way to Min-Seo. Her heart racing in her chest before she collided with the woman, the teary eyed woman who instantly held so much hurt and regret in her eyes. Before Delaney could even say something, Min-Seo had blurted out a very broken 'sorry'.

"H-hey, what's wrong?" Delaney went to embrace her girlfriend, but was pushed away gently with a soft shake of the head.

"I-I... It hurts." Min-Seo whimpered, automatically worrying Delaney. "My own parents wouldn't even accept me for being me, because i'm dating someone of the same gender. have you not noticed the dirty looks that most of the staff gives us when we walk past them whilst holding hands?"

"I've noticed, but it's none of their business who I hold hands with, whether that's you or someone else." Delaney frowned slightly.

"Well it hurts, it hurts me to know that these people who call themselves your family won't even look at you because you're with me. I can't stand here and let you be alienated by your own family like I was by mine-"

"It doesn't bother me-"

"Well it should!" She half sobbed and half yelled. "Your family chose you! You should be bothered if they suddenly don't like you! You've never understood what it feels like to not be wanted-"

"I think you're forgetting that my biological family didn't want me. That I was left on the streets with Eden to rot." The comment made by Min-Seo struck something in Delaney, causing her worried self to turn into hurt. "So don't you dare tell me that I've not experienced being not wanted because I have, I had to fight to survive because my own parent's didn't want me."

"Dee..."

"No, don't 'Dee' me." Delaney's eyes stung with tears. "Just leave me alone."

With that, Delaney ran off. Leaving Min-Seo bewildered, hurt and feeling more unwanted than she did before. She left Min-Seo feeling more regretful and guilty and there wasn't a dry eye between them.
