The Sorcerer’s Stone
Krissy
Krissy and Caedis were storming down the halls, Caedis pulling fiercely on Krissy’s arm. “Caedis! My arm just might fall out of it’s socket!” She complained.
“I don’t care! I’ll take you to the Hospital Wing after!”
“Why are we even going so fast?”
“Harry asked us to meet him near the library before class, remember?” Oh right. Harry. It seemed like that was all that was on Caedis’s mind lately. Harry, this. Harry, that. Well, it wasn’t like Krissy hadn’t tortured Caedis enough with her crushes.
“Ah. I see, Harry.” Caedis blushed.
“Shut up, Krissy! Besides, Ron might be there!” Caedis teased. Krissy blushed slightly. “We have a good few minutes before class. The more we hurry, the earlier we’ll get to Charms.” Krissy thought about it.
“Oh yeah.” Krissy picked up her speed as well, not wanting to be late. The girls ran into the library, slowing down as Madam Pince, the librarian, glared at them.
“Sorry!” They whispered. Krissy and Caedis searched the entire place for any sign of Harry. “There he is!” Caedis pointed suddenly. Krissy turned, and indeed, a mop of raven hair was seen. Krissy saw Caedis’s face drop immediately as they both saw Harry intently looking over a book with Hermione and Ron. “Looks like he’s busy. Maybe we should go.” She whispered.
‘No.” Krissy murmured. “Let’s wait for him,”
She started, gripping Caedis’s arm. “Krissy, they’re obviously studying for something. It’ll be wrong to interrupt.” Krissy raised her eyebrows at her friend.
“When did you suddenly care about doing the right thing?” Caedis pondered on that. “True...Oh what the fish. Let’s go over there. I bet you’re dying to say hi to Ron anyways.”
“No I’m not,” Krissy hissed as Caedis dragged her over to the trio, blushing fiercely. Ron looked up lazily as they stood in front of them.
Dragging, Ron muttered, “Come to join the fun bunch? We’re looking at dusty old books.” Harry didn’t look up from his book, only frowned at what he was reading.
“What’s wrong Harry?” Hermione asked and leaned in closer to him, their shoulders almost touching. Caedis glowered at that and huffed slightly.
“What are you guys looking at?” she asked almost too brightly. Harry started and blushed, pulling away from Hermione as if he’d just noticed how close they were. Hermione looked up at her in surprise, her chin raised slightly, eyes gleaming.
“Just studying for the finals. You know, Potions, Charms, Transfiguration. I’ve just been helping Harry and Ron here--”
“Save the lies for people who’ll believe it Granger,” Caedis interrupted. Hermione looked hurt and disbelieving at Caedis while Ron made a face, trying not to laugh.
“Oh, nice one,” he managed to snicker, holding up a hand for a high five. Caedis half-heartedly granted it. Hermione, flustered, glared at Ron. Caedis looked at her, sighed, and apologized. Krissy let a smile slip onto her face.
“I’m sorry, Hermione. It’s just...I’m not in a good mood. But really, what are you guys doing? You know you can trust us with this, right?” She looked desperately at Harry. “Right, Harry?” she asked again, this time more desperately. He looked up at her, slightly apologetic.
“Caedis...I don’t think it’s safe--”
“Oh come on Harry,” Ron started. “Don’t start this. Besides, we can trust Krissy....I-I mean Caedis.” Krissy looked down and blushed while Ron looked slightly flustered.
“Harry’s right, Ron. This is too important to go around telling people.”
“Oh, come off it! These aren’t people, these are Krissy and Caedis!”
Krissy looked at Ron indignantly. “What are we then, snuffalumps?”
Both Harry and Ron tried-and failed-to hold back laughs. Hermione mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like “snuffalumps, honestly”.
“You’re not going to stop bugging us until we tell you, are you?” Harry asked.
“Nope,” Caedis replied with a slight air of superiority.
“Okay then,” Harry lowered his voice to a whisper, “We’ve found out why that dog’s in the third floor corridor. It’s guarding something. Something that Snape would do anything to get his hands on.”
“What?”
“The sorcerers stone. It produces an elixir that keeps the drinker from dying.” Harry pointed at the fat book that he, Ron, and Hermione had been staring at. “It says here that there’s only one known in existence and that belongs to Nicholas Flamel.”
“Who just happens to be pals with Dumbledore,” Ron chimed in.
“Right, so he’s keeping the stone here for Flamel and Snape wants it to give to Voldemort,” Harry continued
Caedis, Krissy, and Ron all let out little gasps at the use of the name. Krissy had been taught to never speak it and was astonished to hear Harry, of all people say it. For once, she couldn’t think of anything to say.
After a slight silence, Krissy finally came up with a response. “Sooo, what do we do?”
“We go after him. Tonight.”
