Aizawa turned to face the bunch of children.
"You've been taking standardized tests all your lives," he held up a small screen, with illuminated texts displayed. "But you never got to use your quirks before. The country is still trying to pretend that we're all created equally by not letting those with the most power excel. It isn't rational." He stated, looking sternly across the faces of his new pupils.
"Bakugo," Aizawa said suddenly, "You managed to get the most points on the entrance exams; what was your farthest throwing distance with a ball in junior high?" A seemingly random question...
"Sixty seven meters, I think."
"Right. Try doing it with your quirk."
Bakugou held his head high as he walked to the chalky circle in the field.
"Anything goes, just sat in the circle," Aizawa stood so arrogantly, "Go on, you're wasting our time."
Bakugou's face grew stern, stretching his arms.
"Alright man, you asked for it. I'll add a little heat to my pitch and drop their jaws." He was very confident in himself, to the point it was almost aggravating. The ball rushed through the air with a loud burst.
"DIIIIEEEE!!!" Bakugo shouted."All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Aizawa held the screen up for all to see. It displayed Bakugous maximum distance as seven-hundred-five point five meters.
"Its the most reasonable way to finding your power as a pro hero." Aizawa said.
"You have three years to become a hero... you all want to think it's all fun and games now just because you have this freedom." Aizawa grew annoyed at the students awe toward Bakugo's heavy throw, wanting to partake so ecstatically.
"Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever displays their quirk poorly, and comes into last place, will be expelled." Aizawa demanded, and suddenly he had everyone's attention. Etsuko's palms grew moist. What If I perform the worst? What if I'm not as good as everyone else? What if I'm not as good as I think? Etsuko doubted herself where she stood, tensing up in her place. Little did she know that others must have felt the same way.
I've come this far... so far... she thought. Uraraka suddenly bursted to everyone's defense,
"Hey! You can't do this! I mean, we just achieved the getting in part! This ain't fair!"
"And you think natural disasters are? Power-hungry villains who kill and destroy all things in their way? A disastrous event that wipes away cities?"
"What he means is-" Etsuko interrupted unintentionally, feeling that what Aizawa was going to say would've sounded harsh, "The world is full of unfairness, it's a hero's job to combat the unfairness."
Aizawa stood silenced. Trust the capable hands of those brothers to guide her in the right directions... I remember when they were in my class as well, he thought.
"For the next three years, U.A. will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So, go beyond. Plus Ultra-style." He riled.
"Show me it's not a mistake that you're here." The students, he saw, became hardened with determination to succeed. I... I have no choice, Etsuko thought, I won't hold back.
"Now then, we're wasting time by talking. Let's begin. We'll begin with the fifty meter dash."
Students were paired to dash across the field, while a bot announced their time.
"Two point zero three seconds!" Etsuko was grateful it wasn't the worst score in the world after jetting across the length of the activity on her toes with her quirk. Just before, Rakurai and Etsuko watched as Iida sped across the obstacle, "three point zero seconds!" The machine announced.
"Well, he's definitely in his element..." Rakurai nudged Etsuko, the two giggling."Next, grip strength!" Aizawa announced. A beep sounded from the hand held device. Rakurai's displayed 80.63 kilograms in grip strength, and Etsuko's at 67.03 kilograms. Rakurai was impressed, just as many, with the hecto-armed boy, who managed 507 kilograms. Just beside Etsuko, a heterochromatic boy gained the same exact score as her.
"Hmm. What do you think we can do to bring up our strength a bit?" She asked him, but he remained silent. "I mean, I guess it really depends on the person..." she said awkwardly, tearing herself away from the encounter. The boy's eyes were cold, but somehow had a lost look in them; and he only took a glance into hers only to feel chills erupt on his body, their eyes were alike.
'There are still six more tests. Everyone's going to be using their quirks and obtain awesome results... I've got a ton of power, but I may not be as good... maybe I'll never be.' She thought. Having shrunk under the split boys' piercing gaze.
"Third test! Standing long jumps!" Everyone hopped, one after another, some shorter than another, and some even greater than the bounds. Then, they moved one once more.
"Fourth! Side steps!" A tiny boy with purple globes for hair bounces back and forth between them, but Etsuko saw no need, or really no use for her quirk in this circumstance.
The ball toss dawned upon Etsuko, and she began to doubt herself again. It became clear to her that even others doubted her, delusionizing once again that all everyone has ever wanted her to be was just like her father, just because of the similarity between their quirks. Control, that's what I need to prove that I have! I know I have it; I'm just like him!'
