A/N: Wow another one-shot in two parts !

To Jack Kelly, it was an absolutely perfect day. The sun was shining, the wind blew gently, giving a cool breeze. He had convinced Racetrack to walk through the towns forest with him for a bit of adventure.

He wasn't satisfied with his life in the palace. It was typical, boring, with no one interesting enough to talk to besides Racetrack. But, Jack wanted more. He wanted someone to challenge him, interest him, make a good man out of him.

"I wish I was doing something more interesting with my life." Jack groaned, hopping over rocks and stepping over branches. "You know, I could go West. Make my worth planting crops, with a girl on my arm, a few kids of my own. Instead of doing the same thing everyday, doomed to be in charge of a kingdom I'm not fit to rule alone."

Racetrack rolled his eyes, following Jack carefully. "If I hear you talk about going West again-"

"It's not my fault everything here comes so easy!" Jack leaned against a tree, his dark hair matted against his forehead.

"You're going to be King soon, Jack!" Racetrack sighed, a cigar rested between his lips. "You're reign has been well-prepared for, don't you understand what was promised to your parents?"

"Yeah, yeah-" Jack rolled his eyes, sighing. "I'll rule the kingdom. I guess I'm ready to be King. But I don't even know who I am, how can I be sure?"

Racetrack nudged Jacks shoulder, a grin on his lips. "I'm sure you'll find out soon enough, but please, can we go back to the castle? I'm tired and thirsty."

"Just a second." Jack pointed towards the town. "Why not venture out to the town, first?"

Racetrack grimaced, "why? If we don't get back soon, I'm going to die of dehydration."

"To see how others may live," Jack stated, "a life I long to understand."

"I'm absolutely sure anyone would trade places with you." He scoffed.

Jack ignored him, a boy catching his eyes as they stepped into town. The boy was blonde, freckles dotted along his cheeks. He looked as he was quietly singing to himself, a crutch under his arm. A smile seemed permanent on his lips. The boy was leaned over a well, fetching water outside of a small, provincial cottage.

"You!" Racetrack caught Jack off guard by calling out to the boy. The boy jumped, catching himself on his catch. Jack noticed how he stood up straighter when he realized they were from the palace.

"Y-Yes, sir?" He mumbled out, clearing his throat. "Can I do anything for you?"

Racetrack nodded. "Might you have some water we may drink? I'm feeling parched."

Jack rolled his eyes, shoving Racetrack to the side. "You could ask nicer."

The boys giggle was like music to his ears, ringing. His nervousness seemed to slowly fade away. "Yes sirs, I do have some water you may drink." He handed Jack water from a gourd. "Here, for you."

"Thank you." Jack smiled at him, nodding. "That's very kind of you to share."

The boy blushed and Jack swore his heart skipped a beat. "It's just water."

Racetrack eagerly drank the water. "Thank god."

Jack sighed, rolling his eyes. "Don't mind Racetrack, he's been complaining about getting some water all day."

The boy giggled more. "Then, I'm very glad I could give him some."

Jack nodded, awkwardly standing close to him. "Well-" he bit his lip, "we really ought to be getting back, but thank you for your kindness. I admire that."
