Just Another Day

8 YEARS LATER

I wake up to the sound of the curtains opening and the feeling of sunlight hitting my eyelids. I groan as I sit up.
"Come on, Dad. Just 5 more minutes?"

"Success waits for no one." He stated before leaving the room.

I quickly get out of the bed, head over to my vanity table and start brushing my dark, silky hair. I was then about to leave my room, but a picture caught my eye. It was of my mother and I. We were outside that day, near 'The Enchanted Forest'. My mother loved nature, and I guess that passed on to me. She died a few years ago. The whole village knew my mother, so when she passed, everyone was deeply saddened. I still have the present she gave to me...

"Amanda!"

I growl as I head down the stairs and into the kitchen, where my father was serving breakfast. I didn't want it. I just had toast instead.

"Amanda? Don't you want a proper-"

"I'm fine, Dad." I interrupt as I head back upstairs with the toast in my mouth. Finishing my 'breakfast', I put on a white collared shirt, a yellow jumper and a pair of blue jeans. I head back downstairs and put on my black shoes.

"Bye, Dad." I say, after kissing him on the cheek. I exit my house and walk down the path to school.

Being the Mayor's daughter isn't the easiest thing in the world. I have to go to all the ceremonies he holds, and all the parties he hosts. Worst of all, everyone at school thinks I'm vain. Well, it's not like being alone is the hardest thing in the world. I can at least read my book.
From where I am, I can see the school. I enter, and sit at the back, just as the school bell rings. The teacher, Ms Dianson, entered the class followed by a few other students. Three of those students stood out to me, though. Christian Myers. A lot of people just call him 'Chris' for short. Jessica Castle. She's the one that usually just agrees with the other two, and is told to be quiet when she speaks. And, last but not least, Caleb Nickerson. He was the ring leader of the trio. For some reason, Chris sat to the left of me, Jess sat to the right of me and Caleb sat in the seat in front of me.

How could my life get any better?

"Okay class, settle down so I can tell you about your homework." Ms Dianson announced.

I heard groans and moans, along with the teacher's occasional 'shh!'.
I'm going to admit. I brought that upon myself.
