Forgetfulness

Before I knew it, I had snuck out of my house and had started running through the forest. I come back to the clearing and see Saria kneeling on the ground, touching the tip of blades of grass. When Saria sees me, her face lights up and she rushes towards me, chucking her arms around me. A few seconds later, I hear her sniffling.
"Hey, what's wrong?"

"I... I t-thought you forgot about me, or didn't want to be friends anymore, or-" She tried to continue explaining, but I stopped her.

"How could I forget about, or not want to be friends with someone like you?" I lied. Well... not a complete lie. I didn't forget about her. I just forgot to come to the forest.
Saria looks up at me and starts blushing, which causes my face to go red aswell. She lets go of me, and holds my hand instead.

"There is something I want to show you." She whispers.

"Okay. What is it?"

"It is a surprise!"

We've been walking through the forest for quite a while now. Saria's been holding my hand the whole time - which I didn't mind. Finally, we come to a halt in front of a large lake. On the opposite side of the body of water is a waterfall.

"This is amazing!"

"I know. I come here almost everyday."

"There is no way this is real. Pinch me. I have to be dreaming."

Saria pinches my arm and I yelp. Saria and I have a long conversation about how I didn't actually want her to do that.

About ten minutes later, we are sitting by the lake with our feet in the water. I look at the slight swaying of the trees, and embrace the calm breeze that surrounds me. It's beautiful. My eyes then wander over to Saria, who doesn't seem too happy.
"Saria?"

"Yeah?"

"You... okay?"

"Yeah."
I look down at my lap, thinking of something to say.
"Why wasn't the wolf here?" I ask. She smiled when I said 'the wolf'.

"Lyla... and she wasn't here because I wanted to be alone with you. Lyla can get a little, what's the word... protective sometimes."

"Is that why you're so upset? Because she's not here?"

"No, no. Not at all. It's just that... did you forget about me?"

My eyes widen, "No! How could I? I told you before. It would be impossible to forget someone like you."
There is another silence.

What could I do to make her feel better?
