Ambush!

"What? Where?" Jessica almost screams. Before Saria could even answer, a trap falls down from the trees. Jessica and I jump out of the way, just in time, pulling Saria along with us. After we had brushed off the initial attack, we look up to see a mob of people armed with torches; some even armed with guns. The smoke earlier was a trap. Oh no.

"Give her here Amanda." My father commands. I make eye contact with Saria, still hugging her. She smiled softly at me, but I could see it didn't reach her eyes. She was expecting a betrayal and I didn't know what to tell her otherwise.
"No." I say.

"But she's danger-"

"No, she's not! You haven't even met her!"

"She? Her? That's an it. Look at it. What do you see?"

I do as he instructs and look at Saria. I smile at her and she smiles back. I look at my father confident with my answer:
"The most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

Whispers and murmurs spread faster around the crowd than wildfire. I kept my icy glare directed towards my dad.
"I see you've chosen your side, Amanda."
My father raises his lit torch and all the people with guns take aim.

"Wait!" Saria calls out. Everyone turns to her. She then quickly whispers in my ear, "Trust me."
I let go of her and she walks to my father, just a few steps away from him. He smirks.

"Come to your senses I see." He says. There is another silence before he shouts, "Fire!"
Suddenly, there is a burst of light and there floating in the air is Saria. Just like the first day I met her.
Saria's white eyes shone as she floated in the air. Suddenly, plants grow from the ground, taking the guns and wrapping themselves around the people. Not enough to hurt them, just to stop them.

"Really, Amanda?! You're going to side with this evil?!" My father exclaims.

"The only evil I see here is you..."
