The day was bright, so bright. For weeks it would only snow, but today the sun was out, not even the littelest of clouds to be seen. It felt like it was mocking me as I stared out of the window's car at the immense blue above. My face frowny, unpleasant. "Can you pass me the aux?" My stepsister cut off the music I was enjoying, putting on her favourite boy-band. Groaning internally I kept silent, trying to focus on something else. It's not that I hate my sis, but her music taste... It was... Normal. Every teen has their favourite boy-band, I guess. It's just me, I'm different. I kept brooding, continuing to deprecate myself for no reason. It was the only one thing keeping me occupied in this long journey.

"How long before we arrive?" I asked with the most lifeless tone I could ever muster. "Actually, we are pretty near. Are you okay?" Answered my mother, tiping fastly on her phone. "Oh you remember." I commented to myself. She knew I suffered from car sickness, but it never concerned her. The woman didn't respond to my pathetic attempt to bicker and I scrunched up my nose in nervousness. "We are here!" In an attempt to light the mood, my mother's husband started to shout happily. "Damn my legs are all crumped up!" He said jokingly speeding up the car and stopping suddently, making me and my sister bump our heads on the seats before us. My mother slowly turned to him with a clearly unhappy face. "Are you mad!?" She shouted slapping his arm. "Sorry!" He excused himself giggling. I wish the mood was always so light... Oh I wish for it so much.

I hopped down the car in an instant, stretching my legs, with my dog Winfred that was looking at me. The cold air calmed me down, making my expression relax. Damn how much I liked the winter. "Take your bags." My mother's commanding voice brought back my shitty attitude, a frown worse than before riappeared. "Everything okay?" My sister lightly pat my shoulder while she was hearing something through her earbuds. That's how she calms down. Gulping down the lump of years and years worth of rage, I took my heavy bags and I followed everyone inside. So this was it. This was my new temporary home. Me and my mother are so used to moving that that hopeful feeling, the one that makes you ask about your future in the new house, that feeling of wonder and curiosity... It just became dull. It just felt like another annoyance. Making new friends just to leave them months after... If you are lucky enough to become friends with someone.

"Winfred, come!" My sister called our dog, he was looking around, outside the main door. "What's wrong, honey?" I asked to him curious. I was so lost in my damn brain that I forgot the love of my life. Yes, my dog is my best friend, sometimes I think it's pathetic, but I always felt blessed(for whoever that doesn't like dogs... Sorry 😅). The creature didn't respond, he just watched me with his intelligient eyes. Putting down my bags I went to the Malamute, my sister watching us perplexed. "Yo, what's up?" I asked digging my hands into his fur, searching for his body. I reassured him like I would reassure a human, putting my hands on his shoulders and looking at his icy eyes. "It's our new home..." I murmured matter of factly, he should be used to moving by now... Suddently I heard Giulius, my stepsis' father, sigh in annoyance "Come on!" He exclaimed, rolling his eyes. "Go on, I'll be back later." I murmured to Amelie, my sister, while I semi-threw my bags in the elevator, getting scornful stares from both the grown-ups.

"Where are you going?" Amelie felt concerned, our dog still sitting at the front door. "I think he needs to get comfortable around the place." I answered looking at him. "Whatever, just drag him here, we need to unpack." Whined my mother, like dragging a dog of that size would obviously be simple. "I'll unpack later." I moved back, letting the door of the elevator close automatically in front of me. Honestly I felt just like my dog, I didn't really want to enter my... Their new apartment. When I think about it, a strange feeling sets on my stomach, like something is twisting it. I sighed, putting my head on the elevator's door. I'm just being dramatic as always. Going on about how shitty my life is, like it's not the same for my sister, or even my dog. "Gosh!!" Someone startled me, making me jump around as fast as sound and I saw a tall woman staring at Winfred. He was wagging his tail, his tongue out and his eyes sparkly. "Ah, I'm sorry..." I immediately proceeded to put on his leash, people can get easily scared by untied dogs... More because this one looks like a fucking bear. "It's alright, he's used to being around strangers." I said with a smile. "Oh no, no. I was just surprised! You must be with the new tenants!" She gave me an heartwarming smile, making me melt on the spot. "Yeah..." My response was awkward, she can be as friendly as she wants, but my social anxiety will persist no matter what. Seeing me standing like a pole near my dog, she nonchalantly started sweeping the floor. "I am Lisa, I take care of the place." She introduced herself easily, I could tell she is a charming woman. "I'm (y/n)... Nice to meet you." I offered my name with stiff shoulders, wondering when would be the right time to walk away. "You know, I have a son around your same age, and three of his friends live here too. Maybe you could talk to them when they come back from school." She said looking down at the dust. Cringing inside I offered her my own smile "Sure." I mumbled out, before taking Winfred and go for a walk around the building.
