Chapter 16
Jayflight was running through Appleclan with Mapleleaf and her patrol. Swiftly they ran through the orgered scaring mice as they ran. The smell of rotting apples came wafting up to their noses as they raced past the abandoned no pelt den. Soon they made it to the border and Jayflight quickly thanked Mapleleaf before racing into Mouseclan territory. The wind hit him hard as he ran through the meadows. Zig zagging his way through the tall grass he quickly made it to the camp.
"Mousestar!" he called
"She's not in camp right now, but you can probably find her not to far from here at the islands." A voice called from a nearby den.
"Thanks!"
With that he was off. Jayflight ran over hills and through a sea of grass that get to the islands. When he got there he found Mousestar sitting next to the smallest one (which is saying something considering that it was still a giant boulder.)
Soon he was close enough to hear her whispering, "don't worry Rock. I am sure that Ivypaw won't get into any trouble."
"Uhh, Mousestar?" Jayflight called
"Yes?"
"Why are you talking to a boulder?"
"How offensive! His name is Rock not boulder! Boulder is over there, hard to miss considering that he is the biggest one."
Jayflight sighed before continuing to say, "You named the islands?"
"Of course! They need friends too you know."
"I am here on important business."
"Ok."
With that Jayflight could not take Mousestar's stupidity. He walked up to Mousestar and grabbed her scruff and dragged her half way back to the Mouseclan camp.
"You did not need to drag me!" hissed Mousestar
"To bad." Jayflight comly replide
They walked the rest of the way in silence.
As they stepped back into camp an apprentice raced up as if wanting to leave without permission.
"Do you need some help Ivypaw?" Mousestar asked
"I don't need your help mother." Ivypaw hissed
Put back Jayflight took a step backwards. Was this the kit, or was it Thunderkit? Quietly he followed Mousestar past the apprentice and towards the den that he assumed was the leader's den.
"What was so important that you had to cross Appleclan or Stormclan to get here?" Mousestar mewed absentmindedly.
"Well Moonstar, Leafstar, and Waterstar came, and they told me, 'Watch out for the kit her best friend knows the truth talk to the mouse or you will fall.' so I assumed that the mouse was you." Jayflight sighed.
"You shouldn't assume things." Was all Mousestar had to say.
"It's getting late. I am not sure that Appleclan will want me crossing this late in the day."
"Good, you should stay here and help Duskwing with whatever healing or collecting has to be done."
"I would be more then willing."
As the day went on Jayflight helped Duskwing. As it got dark Duskwing let him sleep in the medicine cat den, but as the night wore on Jayflight found himself wake up. He did not know if he was in a dream or not, but he could sense something. Picking himself up he got close enough to see out of the medicine cat den door, but far enough to not be able to be seen by whoever was out there. There was Flamesky with another cat that brought darkness, yet glowed with an eerie orange glow. They were leading Ivypool out of a den and was heading for the entrance. Slowly he stood up and was about to find out where they were going when everything went black and he woke up. Something was wrong. Getting up he thanked Duskwing for letting him stay in his den and raced out the door and to the entrance running across the meadow and to the border. There he could not wait for a patrol to come so he continued to run through Appleclan territory.
"Hey! Jayflight! Stop!" The sound of Applestar's voice echoed through the apple orchard.
Stopping Jayflight spun around, "I don't have much time, make this quick."
