Chapter 10

Mumbleheart paced back and forth hoping for something to do. All that they were doing was waiting to see if the wolves came. Besides, Falconstar probably only had a lucky guess. MoonClan did not stay with them when Grayfoot died. MoonClan left with Grayfoot. Still what if another cat died? Where would they go if MoonClan left? These were the only thoughts that kept him from becoming bored.

Quietly Snowfall padded up to him and purred, "Your mother and father are great cats, your mother and Falconstar helped me when I was homesick and had first decided to leave being a Bellcat behind and become a clan cat. To be honest not even I accepted Falconstar's pelt when we were younger."

Hoping to avoid a rant and to just have a casual conversation Mumbleheart swiftly sighed and said, "Why did anyone accept Falconstar's pelt? Sure it is different, but that doesn't mean that she is a bad cat."

"Well her pelt is brown with black spots and an orange tail tip. It did not help that no one knows who her father is or was. Then the death of Littlewave her mother took some cats over the edge and ever since then who knows what happened to her mother and who cares what her pelt looks like. I think that she got more hatred for her pelt color than me having been a Bellcat."

Too tell the truth Mumbleheart still saw the occasional cat hiss to another cat about how strange Falconstar's pelt was. Yet no one complained about Bluepaw's gray-blue pelt with his single black spot and orange tipped tail. Suddenly a cream and white tom came through the entrance of the camp with a chimera she-cat and a black she-cat following.

The chimera she-cat gasped and cried, "Cloud! Mother we found her! We found Cloud, Oat!"

The cream and white tom sighed "It might not be her. How would you be able to recognize her Dream."

"The tuft of fur in between her ears that's how!"

Suddenly Snowfall's eyes widen in remembrance "Dream! Oat! Mother! Are you going to join the clan? Where's father? Is he okay?"

The black she-cat mewed "Your father is fine we were hoping that you would come back home to us. Stay with us my precious Cloud."

Snowfall looked away sadly. Then mewed, "I'm sorry but I can't. I belong here now."

Sadly the three cats came up and rubbed against Snowfall. Quietly they walked away Dream guiding their mother as she cried. Not too long after they left the patrol came back. Mumbleheart hurried to talk to his mother, but she went to her nest as if she did not want to be bothered. Slowly as to not disturb his mother he left the den and went over to the entrance of camp. Whiteleap bounded up worry in his eyes.

"Where are you going?" Whiteleap asked.

"Out to hunt want to join me?" Mumbleheart replied

"Not asking Squirrelflow?"

Blushing Mumbleheart ducked his head and did not respond. He wished that his brother did not know about his crush on Squirrelflow, but he would never keep a secret from his brother. Now that he thought about it, Whiteleap seemed to not be telling the whole truth when he said he was fine.

"Hey dreamy head." Whiteleap whispered

"What?" Mumbleheart asked suddenly paying attention

"Is he always like this? We will never go out to hunt with him here." Groaned Stonepaw

"Who knows. How about we just go train Stonepaw." Squirrelflow muttered

"Actually I was hoping that Squirrelflow and Mumbleheart could go and hunt together while I go and train Stonepaw." Whiteleap mewed

Shocked Squirrelflow suddenly started to blush and so did Mumbleheart.

"Cool! I get to train with one of the coolest warriors ever!" Stonepaw yeowled

This made Whiteleap sit up just a little bit taller. As Whiteleap and Stonepaw left to go to the training cliffs Mumbleheart and Squirrelflow headed out to hunt and as soon as they were all alone he would ask her to be his mate, but there was the possibility that she would say no. That was holding him back. After heading to the cliffs where there would be some birds to catch.

Seeing that the ledge on the other side might not hold his weight. He called "Squirrelflow! I don't think that is a good idea."

"I think that I will be fine, but thank you for your worry" She responded

Landing on the other ledge Squirrelflow was about to meow something when the ledge gave out and she fell. Possibly to her doom.
