We're back on this never ending day! (Seriously, time is so slow in this book! One day is about ten chapters.)

I hope you remember where we left the characters last chapter.

---Patton---

Logan idled the car next to a blue pickup truck in front of Felly's apartment building.

"Are you sure you don't want to come up, Lo?" I asked, getting out of the car.

"I am abundantly positive that I will not blend into a circle of skull painters."

"Well, not if you put it that way!"

"And I do not have an invitation." Logan hadn't been on the group, and I knew he was trying not to show that he minded. I will ask Felicity to add him.

"Nonsense! Any friend of mine is a friend of theirs! It's not as if they will throw you out," I said indignantly.

He smiled softly. "I will be fine. I am always for a reading session in the library in quiet and peace compared to a rambunctious party with arts and crafts that will inevitably result in a mess. Go enjoy yourself, Patton. I'll be back to pick you up in two hours."

If I pressed he'd just get embarrassed, so I nodded. I shut the door and took the tapestry out the boot. I waved as he drove off, not liking that we had to go in two different ways at all.

I went into the gloomy lobby, looking in interest at the security guard who was asleep with last Saturday's newspaper over his face. Felicity told that they were on the sixth floor, and truth be told stairs didn't get along well, so I headed off to the lift. There were already two people waiting before the doors, and when I got closer, I saw faces I knew.

"Hi, Roman and V!" I squealed and waved, trotting up to them. "Fancy bumping into you! I didn't know V was going to be here!"

"Hiya, Patton!" Roman flashed a grin.

V hung back, staring the floor. I bent down to his eye level. "Hello, V!"

"Hi." He mumbled.

"How's the day treating you? You're in luck, coz I got blueberry tarts for you, and that's a pretty sweet treat alright!"

"Yum!" said Roman, peaking into the bag in my hand. "We're on our way up to the apartment. Have you ever painted skulls before?"

"Nope. But I wanna try it out." I giggled. "You got to be the actual numbskull to mess it up! it's a no brainer! I'm dying to dye a skull!"

V's chortle turned into a full-blown laugh. "Skull puns. Neat"

It was unexpected, but yay! Even V's on board the party train. "Glad I tickled your funny bone!"

"STOP!" V started cackling manically, the way someone who's been stressed suddenly just lets out all the tension. Roman looked at him in surprise, then smiled warmly. I guess he was really happy to see him happy.

The lift doors opened with a ping.

"Okay, Jack Skellingpun, get in," Roman said with a chuckle, playfully shoving V into the lift and stepping in himself. I was just about to follow, lugging the humungous tapestry with me, when –

"Stop! Hold the lift!"

A loud scratchy female voice came from behind me, along with the sharp clack of plastic heels.
