Suicide
What is death? More so, what exactly is suicide? And why do people do it?Taking your own life. Interesting expression. Taking it from who, exactly? Your death is something that happens to everybody else. Your life is not your own. Take your hands off it.
Usually, suicide is normally the 'ending' of somebody's story. And now their book is being burned to the ground the longer people try to forget about it.
Many people assume that those who commit suicide or yet try to commit it is simply asking, begging for attention. Well, the answer to that is yes. Yes, those people are screaming for attention. But have you ever had the thought if wether your understanding of the word is wrong? Yes, they may be asking for attention, but what type of attention are they desperately seeking from others?
Maybe you're wrong. Maybe their life is so fucking fucked up until they simply can't handle it anymore? You don't know what goes on in other people's life except your own. So, as only you can control your life, why bother merely assumptioning another person's life, when you don't know what type of choices they were given?
Many people commit suicide because they simply cannot take it anymore. Wether it be from losing a loved one, a case of mental illness, bullied and so many other examples, some situations are too much for them to handle. Or maybe it's because they've been holding it for too long. Nobody cares too even listen to them for a second and yet the weight on their shoulders simply become heavier knowing that that person simply didn't, and maybe even never, cared.
Though, there is another case, where, many people start to cut. It may not sound that severe or even that serious but, that's how they cope with the pain. Maybe alcohol weren't allowed in their life or yet, in many cases, they had nobody to talk to. But, that is yet another part that I have not yet but will approach in the near future. But now, let us get back to our topic, shall we?
You see, the type of attention these people seek are not that one type many people simply assume. This type of attention is simple. They are fighting this war and they can't fight it alone. For if they do, they are terribly frightened they might lose. They are seeking attention, maybe not because they need warriors, an army, they are seeking motivation. They need somebody, anybody, to tell them that they can do it, that they matter. Because that is exactly what the enemy is taunting them about. It keeps screaming to them that they are worthless, that they don't matter, that nobody cares. And yes, you may think that if you were in that situation, you would simply close your ears and shut them out. But it is sadly not that easy. Because your enemy is yourself. You are the one screaming at yourself. And you can't just simply block yourself out, can you?
Please, I beg you, if you, in your life, one day meet a person desperately seeking help from anybody, I beg you to be that person. It may not look as if it is a life-changing thing, but believe me, it is and may be one of the bravest and noblest thing a human being can do.
The person begging for help may not show it at times, but simply look them in the eye and never, ever accept the answer "I'm fine" when asked if they were okay. Please show them that they matter and be there for them when they need somebody. Because I know that if someone were to do that to me, I would forever be in their gratitude.
Though, some people have sadly not been that lucky. That's the reality of, well, reality. There will always be some people that ended their book too early simply because nobody told them that they haven't reached the end of the book yet and simply let them assume that they have.
