Days left: 0

It was Monday. The last day. The determining day. Everything that had happened in the last weeks would be judged in the events of today. Both boys felt the heavy pressure of what was to happen that day. Both boys would rather lie in bed all day then face their consequences.

So when it was 10 o'clock and neither boy had left their bed, no one was surprised. Trent had let the faculty know that they would be absent from their classes that day.

"Today." Blaine's voice shook nervously. He was bundled up to his chin in blankets.

Kurt turned away from him and buried his face in his pillow. He screamed. Finally he turned to Blaine. "What time did you start seeing colors?"

"10:37." Blaine responded with a groan. Kurt glanced at the time. 10:33. Kurt forced himself to sit up. "What are you doing?"

"I have four minutes. I might as well make the best of it." Kurt stood up and walked out the door. Still in his pajamas.

Blaine sat up quickly and ran after him. "Where are you going?!"

"I dunno." Kurt sulked through the hallway. "I wanna see something pretty again." Blaine followed him. 3 minute left.

Thirty seconds later they reached the junior/senior common room. Kurt instantly went to the seemingly endless library. The books spanned the length of the whole room. Tears streamed down his face as he examined each individual book closely. "The covers. They're beautiful." Kurt's hands stroked the front of each book. "This one's amazing. Look. It's gold font." Blaine joined him.

"Such a beautiful color." 2 minutes. Kurt slowly slid the book back into the bookshelf and picked up another one.

"Harry Potter. I read this one in second grade. I never knew how colorful the covers were." If tears weren't falling down Blaine's face before, they definitely were now. "Thank you for showing me the nature walk yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful in my life."

"I-of course." Blaine stuttered. He honestly didn't know what to say to this. "Anything for you." Kurt shot him a half hearted smile. Blaine took Kurt's hand in his as they continued to scroll through the book case together.

"My Side of the Mountain! I haven't read this book in years! Mountains are purple?" Kurt noticed incredulously. 1 minute. "Oh my god! Little Women. It's been so long." Blaine laughed. "What?"

"Little Women Kurt? Really?" Blaine grinned. "You are something special." Kurt dropped the book and turned to face Blaine.

"I'm something special?"

"Of course."

"Prove it."

"And how would you like me to do that?"

"Kiss me."

"What?"

"You heard me. Kiss me. Plus maybe we are soulmates and this will work."

"You're only doing this because of the chance you might not go blind?" Blaine frowned, obviously hurt.

"Of course not stupid. I think I like you." Kurt blushed, realizing what he had just admitted. He had barely admitted to himself, much less Blaine.

"I love you." Blaine blurted out without thinking.

"Shut up and kiss me."

Blaine grinned. This was finally happening. This moment that Blaine had been waiting for for so many weeks. Blaine was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice when Kurt closed his eyes. Blaine closed his eyes and leaned in. He met Kurt halfway and waited for him to close the gap. Right before Blaine wondered if he had made a mistake by assuming that Kurt really wanted to be kissed, he felt Kurt's lips gently press against his own.

It wasn't fireworks. It was more. It was a dancing blue fire that streaked through both of their bodies. It was a burning light that didn't die out. It electrified the boys with energy and passion they didn't know that they had.

The kiss lasted barely a second but felt much longer to both boys. They pulled apart, both boys grinning. Until they opened their eyes.

"Oh no." Kurt's voice was barely above a whisper.

"We're too late!" Blaine whimpered, his bottom lip quivering. Everything they looked at was darkness. They started to panic.

Kurt reached blindly for Blaine's waist to steady himself. "We may be blind." Kurt choked. "But at least we found each oth-" Kurt was interrupted by Blaine's lips smashing against his own. It was much less gentle this time. The flames that had danced before only grew brighter this time.

It felt so right. Like they had been waiting for this their entire lives. At the moment, they forgot about their loss of sight. They forgot that they were making out in a public area. Nothing mattered except the two of them. Nothing but them. And that's all that had ever mattered. Just the two souls becoming one.

Finally they split apart. But this time when they opened their eyes, they weren't staring at blackness, they were staring at each other. Without questioning anything they wrapped each other up in their embrace. Tears billowed out of their eyes. These weren't tears of sadness. These were tears of happiness; of relief. It was over. It was finally over. They had each other at last. And that's all they could've ever wished for.
