5 years later:
This was it. Today was the day it would be permanent. Kurt and Blaine were finally going to get married.
They walked down the isle. Arm in arm. Burt was already at the alter. He was going to make it official. He was going to make it real.
And then it was real.
It was always real.
It had never been any other way.
60 years later:
Kurt was driving back to the hospital. It was relatively late. He had been volunteering all day. Regardless of the fact that he was retired he still got bored.
He had been away from his Blaine all day. Blaine had been admitted to the hospital the previous day after he fell and broke his hip. Blaine was 81 so this wasn't the most shocking event to occur.
Kurt found a parking spot at the hospital. He turned off his car and grabbed his cane from the passenger's seat. He slowly and steadily made his way to the front door. He pushed the door open and walked inside, eager to see how his husband of 60 years was doing.
Just as he approached the front desk to sign in, his legs collapsed. And he passed out. Right before his head could hit the floor, a young woman around thirty caught it.
*. *. *
Kurt woke up a few hours later in a hospital bed. He opened his eyes and screamed. Kurt screamed until his throat was raw and the tears that were streaming down his face ran out. Footsteps could be heard running into his room.
"Shhhhh, Kurt it's going to be okay." A nurse soothed. "Please don't scream. You know that's not good for your lungs."
"He's gone I-isn't he?" He sobbed.
"He has cancer. We never caught it. I'm sorry." She soothed.
"I can't see." Kurt sobbed.
"I know. When your soulmate passes away you go blind. I'm sorry."
"I don't want to see unless I can see him." Kurt sobbed. His already wrinkled face grew more wrinkled as his sobs grew louder. "I miss him already. I didn't even get to say goodbye."
4 months later:
Blaine and Kurt AnderHummel
1991-2072 and 1990-2072
On August 14, 2072 Blaine AnderHummel passed peacefully in his hospital bed.
4 months later on December 21, Kurt AnderHummel passed peacefully in his sleep. He died of a broken heart.
Although neither men believed in a God we can all rest peacefully knowing that wherever they are, they're together. They were married happily for 60 years.
Together they adopted 2 children. Aaron (52) and Julia (47). They were proud grandparents of 4. Emily (21), Jason (15), Amelia (27), and George (19). They were great grandparents to one: Allison (3).
Thank you for joining us all in this ceremony to celebrate the lives of Blaine and Kurt AnderHummel. Most commonly known as Klaine. May they Rest In Peace.
