The Heart They Once Had
A tale I’ll tell you from my tongue,
From a time long a gone,
Of a love like no other,
Between two who loved one another.
She was the dark night,
Who blocked out all light.
Long red hair ran down her back,
And yellow eyes she did not lack.
With clothes the colour of the midnight sun,
Through the shadows she did run.
Two small horns sat atop her head,
And she scared the ghosts of the dead.
The night belonged to she,
And a demon she used to be.
He was the pure light,
And soft was his sight.
His golden hair was like silk,
And his wings the colour of milk.
Blue eyes gleamed in his face,
And to the clouds he set his pace.
With clothes the colour of moonlight snow,
He brought hope wherever he did go.
The sky belonged to he,
And an angel he used to be.
Curious was he,
On the night he met she.
The night to him was prohibited,
But his patience was limited.
And so due to his curiosity,
Into the night he did flee.
She was walking through her dark wood,
Creating shadows because she could.
She sat in a misty moonlit clearing,
And through her night began peering.
The angel in the same wood,
Was wandering because he could.
In his wandering he found her there,
With skin cold and fair.
He stepped forward and cracked a branch,
And she stared at him with eyes as cold as avalanche.
She rose from her position,
Already knowing her decision.
She strode forward to attack,
And he had to quickly back track.
She asked “Why are you here?
There is so much for you to fear,
You don’t belong in my night,
For you are a creature of the light.”
He looked down at her hostile features,
