We Dance Under the Storms

When the darkness closes in,

Twisting underneath your skin,

Tainting everything you knew,

I will find you.

When the phantoms start knocking on your door,

And the only defence is to curl on the floor,

With your soul to the world bare,

I will be there.

When the monsters stampede through your head,

Filling it with tendrils of dread,

While the rain echoes on the window pane,

I'll be the one calling your name.

When a fire burns away the hope,

Leaving ash of the will to cope,

Echoing that it's going to stay,

I will make it go away.

When the skeletons start peering through the locks,

And the time dies on all the clocks,

And the roses wilt amongst the snow,

There is nowhere else I will go.

When the vines begin to choke,

The thorns nestling against your throat,

Blood will run across my palms,

As I try to keep you safe from harm.

So when it all becomes too much to take,

And you cling to the silence before you wake,

I'll be the one leaving tracks,

On my journey to bring you back,

For whenever you need a comforting light,

Remember you can always hold me tight.
