Teach Me to Pray-Chapter Three
"What the hell, Sabrina," Sean demanded, following Sabrina into the office and slamming the door. Sabrina had just concluded her team meeting, and Sean didn't seem to happy.
"You just slammed my door," Sabrina said with a calm voice. She went to her desk and sat down, opening up her email which was slowly being flooded with messages from other departments-messages Sabrina didn't want to read. When Sean didn't say anything, Sabrina looked back up towards him. "Can I help you?"
"Yes, you can. Why am I stuck with 'Rage' and 'Teen Rage'? I mean, I'm not even working on the Indian Culture spread. Why the hell not?"
The nexr dday,
Sabrina raised her eyebrows. "You're good at working with those magazines."
"They're womans magazines," Sean spat.
"Is that a problem?" Sabrina was still calm.
"I'm a straight man. What do I know about woman's fashion?"
"I don't know, Sean, but that's your job, and you will do it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have preparations to take care of." Sabrina gestured to the door.
"I don't deserve this, Sabrina, and you know it," he said, stalking out of the office and slamming the door behind him. Sabrina sighed.
She was going to appoint Sean as the leader, but that was before she was bombarded by Roger in the elevator. After that, she felt an impulse to make Sean stay as far away from theIndian culture project as he could. She needed this to go perfectly, and she had a slight feeling that it wasn't going to happen that way.
The next day. Sabrina was in the office getting ready to leave for the airport. Her flight left at a quarter 'til three, but Sabrina was planning on getting there early. She had already printed out her boarding pass, and Amanda was taking her to the airport. Sean was still angry at Sabrina, and he was no where to be found wile everyone was saying their goodbyes.
"I'm going to expect reports everyday. Don't forget. We need to work together to get this done." Sabrina smiled at her team. "We can do this," she said. They all smiled and wished her good luck and safe travels.
Amanda stepped forward. "We should probably go, Sabrina," she suggested, looking at her watch.
"I'll be in touch," Sabrina waved as her and Amanda stepped onto the elevator. When they reached the bottom floor, Sean was standing there, waiting to go up.
Your leaving?" He muttered, not looking Sabrina in the face.
"Yes. We're leaving right now."
Sean nodded and turned to Amanda, "Can have a minute or two to speak with Sabrina in private?" Amanda paused and looked over at Sabrina who nodded slightly.
"Sure. I'll meet you in the car, Sabrina," she said, and she walked out of the building to get her car. Sean looked over at Sabrina and motioned around the corner. Sabrina went around the corner and Sean followed.
"I'm sorry."
Sabrina turned around to face Sean. "You're sorry?"
"Yes. I acted like a spoiled brat yesterday."
Sabrina nodded. "Well then I'm sorry too." Sean looked taken aback. "For not following through with what I told you and for not saying 'I love you,'" Sabrina clarified.
"It's okay," Sean murmured, pulling her into a hug. "I love you, and I'm going to miss you, Sab," he mumbled into her hair.
Sabrina looked up at him. Still, she couldn't seem to say those three special words back to him. "I'm going to miss you too, Smith." She smiled and reached up to peck him on the cheek. "Stay in touch, and make 'Rage' and 'Teen Rage' perfect." He nodded.
"Be safe," Sean said as Sabrina walked out of the building and out of his life for the next three weeks.
Sabrina and Amanda made it to the airport an hour and a half before take off. "Amanda," Sabrina turned to her. "Thank you so much. I know that you are going to do a great job at being in charge." Sabrina smiled.
"Why did you put me in charge aand not Sean?" Amanda asked, ignoring everything that Sabrina had said. Sabrina cringed, and turned away.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Sabrina responded.
Amanda laughed. "Oh, wow. You really think you're fooling everyone, don't you? We all know that you and Sean have a thing going on."
"A thing," Sabrina said bounty, wondering if that was what it was.
"Yeah. You're always the last two working, and we see the way that he looks at you." Amanda laughed again. "You actually though no one knew."
"Yes. I did," Sabrina said, stepping out of the car. "Thank you for the ride. I'll be in touch," she said, slamming the door and stalking into the airport. Sabrina had a strange impulse to call Sean, but she pushed it away and went through security. Finally she made it onto the plane and fourteen hours and seven thousand, three hundred, and sixteen miles later, Sabrina landed in New Dehli, India.
She was greeted by Max, but as Max introduced her to the city, Sabrina found herself thinking of the conversation that she had had with Sean, and she couldn't seem to get it, or him, out of her head.
