Cassie Davis
I walked out into the student parking lot, tired as fuck. Our coach, pushed us to the limit today. My body was already sore and all I wanted to do was get home.

I looked around the parking lot and my sister was no where to be found, once again. My phone buzzed. I got a text message.

Christin🤞🏽🌺
Cass, I can't make it. Just...call a cab or something like you did this morning.

I huffed in frustration. Christin was always doing this shit to me. I wasn't going to spend more money on cab services. I wasn't planning on being left at school once again.

I didn't know what else she expected me to do. She knew I wasn't feeling right too. I just broke up with my nigga so the least she could've done was pick me up from school.

All of my emotions from today that were built up inside, seemed to poor out. Tears flowed from eyes, onto my phone screen. The fall wind blew in my direction causing me to shiver.

It was starting to get chilly. The trees rustled in the wind and it made me uneasy. It was cold, I was crying and panicking.

I looked around for a moment and the basketball players from practice started coming out. They all were tired and sweaty from the looks on their faces.

I wiped my tears. I didn't want anyone to see me crying.

Today's practice was by far the worst. A niggas whole game was thrown off. I was distracted. Not just by the Harper situation, but the fact that I wasn't mentally prepared for shit today. School in its entirety.

I threw my sweater over my shoulder, taking a deep breath. I watched as the guys on the team laughed at my car. Their small snickers didn't phase me. At the end of the day I was the captain and the best player on the team.

I unlocked my car with my keys from a distance. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of the cheerleaders standing in the middle of the parking lot. She made small sniffles but I didn't really care enough to look at who it was.

As I walked to the car, I heard her voice. I immediately recognized it. It was Cassie on the phone with someone. I looked back at my car, debating on whether I should stop and talk to her. Tears ran down her eyes which were blood shot red.

"Ma. Christin is not even picking me up. What do I do? You can't like, pick me up?" She cried.

I huffed, locking my car back and making my way over to her.

She put her phone down, hanging it up. She looked up at me, wiping her tears quickly.

"You need a ride again?" I sighed.

She nodded her head slowly. "Saint you don't have to though..." she said, putting up an argument.

"Cassie get in the car." I huffed, shaking my head.

"Okay." she replied quickly. She rushed over to my car, waiting for me to unlock it.

I smiled, shaking my head. I knew she wasn't gonna refuse.

I unlocked it. She reached for the passenger door handle, but before she could touch it, I opened it for her.

She gave me a look. A confused look. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips were pursed to the side.

I simply shrugged my shoulders, making my way to the drivers seat. I got in, starting the car. Cassie sat staring out of the window.

She looked over at me.

"Your not going to put your seat belt on?" She asked.

"No, why?" I asked.

"I'm not driving in a car where the driver isn't safe." She pouted.
