I left Xandar before the rest of the "team" for my trip to Terra. Luckily the Nova Corp were nice enough to rebuild both Peter and my's ships. I hope he's lame enough to just reuse his old ship's name, because I don't need his sass about not coming up with a new name for the Animal. I have a good feeling Peter is finally ready to open his present from mom, so it's time I do the same.

I decide to start with the letter first.

My dear Brooke,

You are destined to be something incredible, I can feel it. Your daddy tells me he can see it, too. I know you can protect yourself, but I'm going to need you to take care of Peter and the baby as well. They need someone to be strong, and you are the strongest person I know. I'm sorry I'm leaving you with so much responsibility. I know that someday your daddy is going to come find you and he'll make sure you don't have to try and be strong anymore. He'll show you just how strong you can really be. Before he had to leave, he gave me the necklace I'm giving your sister and the present I'm leaving you. I love you with all my heart and I want you to make sure the baby knows that goes for her, too. Something tells me she'll be a girl, which is why I am trusting you with her. My smart, strong, and powerful girl, you are going to blow everyone away someday.

                                        Love,

                                            Mom

I can feel a few tears trickle down my cheeks. My dad never came for me, but she believed he would. She also believed in me so much. The only other people who ever believed in me that much were Yondu, Peter, and Kraglin. I guess I could add the Guardians of the Galaxy to that list, I think with a smile.

I wipe my eyes as I reach for the gifts. I open my baby sister's first. It's a snowflake charm on a silver chain. It's absolutely stunning. I haven't been to a planet with snow in quite some time, but I'd never forget that shape. I slip the necklace in my coat pocket and move onto my present.

It's a key. It looks to be a gold skeleton key, but I have not idea what it could open. It's really intricate and has small jewels embedded on it. I silp that into my other pocket. I'm not sure what I should do with it, but I feel good having it close by. It will take sometime before I get to Terra, so I might take some time reading some of the books the Nova Corp provided me with.

"So Peter and I are only half-siblings?" I ask. The other Guardians and I are talking over the coms about what they learned from the Nova Corp.

"Apparently my father was something ancient they weren't used to seeing," Peter answers. He knows I'm disappointed that we don't share the same father, but I refuse to believe that's true. "They said you're dad is something not human, but they aren't sure what because they don't come across those beings either." There's my glimmer of hope.

"Then there could've been a bug in system that says the DNA isn't the same, but our father is the same guy," I try to reason. Everyone on the screen looks at me with pity. My denial is justified, they just want to believe technology wouldn't fail them, I think.

"While you're not wrong," Rocket says, "the odds are pretty slim that happened." He seems genuinely sorry to try and burst my bubble.

"Well, until we know for certain," I start, "I won't be telling our sister anything about that." They all nod and we decide to change the subject to something more positive.

After a few days of traveling, time saved thanks to wormholes, I finally see the blue oceans of Terra. I'm not entirely sure where my sister could be, but I guess the best place to start would be my grandfather's house. Where exactly do I land though? Peter always said we're from Missouri, but I'm not sure where that is on Terra. I recognize the shape of America (the only thing I really remember about Terra) and decide to pick somewhere there and land there. I doesn't take long for me to land in densely populated city. No one seems to be paying my ship any mind, so I land in an empty spot. After I get out, I walk towards the nearest building.
