when he got home from school that day harry walked past a mother struggling to get her kids out of the car, her 4 year old was throwing a tantrum and she was trying to get her baby out of it's car seat, while carrying all of her bags.

mums have to carry a lot of fucking bags.

he recognised them as friends of his neighbour's.

"one sec lou i'll call you back"

he hung up.

louis was used to this, he figured harry was just helping an old person across the street again.

he approached the child, crouching down so he was eye level with him.

"what's your name?"

"henry"

"hey! that's close to my name, i'm harry"

he gave him a high five and looked up at the mother, she smiled at him, and continued to unclip her baby's car seat. he needed to make sure she wasn't creeped out, he was a stranger after all.

"so why are you giving your mummy a hard time?"

"she won't hurry up!", henry shouted as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, waving his hands around to emphasise.

"do you love her?"

"yeah she's my mummy"

"if you love someone you're not supposed to shout at them henry, i don't think she's taking long on purpose"

henry shrugged and he heard the mum sigh behind them.

"do you like it when people shout at you?"

"no!"

"then why are you shouting at your mummy?"

"i want to see my friends but i don't like waiting"

"i don't think your mummy's doing it to be boring, she probably just wants you to wait because she loves you so much. or the road is dangerous, or she doesn't want to lose you", he explained, patting henry's head of curls.

"and nice spider-man shirt by the way!", he smiled standing up properly.

"thanks! mummy got it me from the shop and then we went for lunch and-and my chicken was brown!", he said excitedly like it was out of the ordinary.

he laughed and smiled, looking up at henry's mum.

"thankyou, that really helped. i'm just all over the place today"

"it's fine honestly, your son's very clever. do you need help with those bags?", he said, pointing to the 4 bags on her arm, and the baby on her other.

"you've done enough! you can't do that for me! i'll be fine, thankyou again", she said before managing to take henry's hand and walking up he path to his neighbour's house.

he smiled and thought about if henry would remember that conversation next time he got upset with his mummy.

he walked inside of his own house and dialled louis' number, apologising for hanging up without saying goodbye, and explaining what happened.

he spoke about it like it was nothing, but louis was fascinated every time harry did something like that for a stranger.
