Chapter 14: Disappointment

"Five, six, seven, eight and one" Maya counts as I do the steps to another routine I had to learn. I have 3 solos, and 6 group dances that I have to memorize and perform beautifully. Right now I have one solo and two group dances learned and cleaned. That's fairly well for someone who just started learning the steps about a week and a half ago, but with the thought of having barely 2 months left to learn the rest is quite overwhelming.

2 months is nothing if you think about it, it isn't enough time to perfect a routine properly which is why I'm kind of stressing out right now. "Elli focus" Maya warns me as I bite my lip and concentrate on my move, "Relax those shoulders, you look tense" I quickly nod and drop my shoulders before going into a pirouette. I stumble a little at the end but ignore it and go into the next step, "Control your balance" Maya sighs certainly getting dissapointed at all the mistakes I'm doing.

Maybe I wasn't meant to take the lead role, maybe I'm not ready to take on such a big role. "Elli" Maya groan running her fingers through her hair frustratedly as I miss a step and quickly move into another. "Focus!" She slightly shouts as I clench my eyes shut but keep moving, I do the small steps before opening my eyes to do a leap jump, I successfully land it but when I go on pointe to do a pirouette I stumble a loss my balance. "What is going on with you Elli?" Maya asks annoyed as she stops the music, stopping me from continuing. "Your doing so many mistakes and you don't seem concentrated or motivated at all" I glance at her through the mirror and see how dissapointed she looks, that breaks me. I frown and rush out of the studio heading straight to the changing room ignoring her calling me.

I groan hitting the wall before falling on the floor and bringing my knees to my chest, curling into a ball as tears fall down my face. "Elli" Maya calls opening the changing room and finding me, "Baby girl" she sighs walking over to me and kneeling down in front of me, "Don't cry sweetheart" she say softly lifting her hand to touch me.

"No!" I shout backing away from her taking her aback, "No" I say more softly looking down breaking my gaze away from her. "Ellianna I'm sorry" she apologises, but I shake my head "Call daddy" I gently say.

"Elli please tell me what's wrong?" She begs but I don't want to tell her she'll be dissapointed in me, I failed her and I don't want her to be mad at me. "Call my dad" I repeat causing her to sigh, "Baby girl com-" she attempts again but I cut her off "No!" I yell "I want my dad!" I shout.

"Call him!" I yell looking back up at her seeing how her hurt she looks. "I wanna go home" I mumble wipping my face from my tears. She nods and stands up, "I'll get him from you" she says pursing her lips together before leaving me alone.

Not ever did I think I'd get a call from Maya like the one I got today. I never thought that my daughter would be yelling at Maya not wanting to talk to her about what she's going through. I always thought Elli always loved talking to Maya and know how she'd deal with it. They're both really close so I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that my daughter would shut Maya out. Unless it was because whatever happened is because of Maya.

I head inside the building and find Maya rubbing her hands together nervously as she's talking to Jenny. "Hey" I say catching her attention, she turns around and let's out a breath of relief, "Oh thank god" She breathes out as I walk towards her, "What happened?" I ask as she pulls me in for a hug, "I don't know" Maya whispers "She was practising one of her dances and she wasn't doing very well and I think she knew that because she wasn't  focusing" she starts to explain pulling away slightly to look at me.

"It made me a little frustrated I have to admit but then she ran out and yelled at me to call you, she wouldn't tell me what's going on" Maya sighs, "Okay, I'll go see her" Maya nods and steps away from me "Tell her I'm sorry for whatever I did" I turn back to look at Maya and find her eyes watering up. "Baby" I coo walking back to her "I'm sure it was not your fault at all" I assure her, "Don't blame yourself" I add and lean down to place a soft kiss on her lips.
