I wake up, wishing that I could stay in bed forever. It's not that I'll sleep, I just want to stay here and stare at the wall. Despite this, I sit up with a groan. I grab my bag and look in my mirror. Purple dusts under my eyes, my sleepless night evident on my face.
I walk out of my room and into the living room. I walk past my family, ignoring them. "Hey, Y/n, how did you sleep?" Cynthia's question forces me still.
"Since when do you ask me things like that?" I ask.
"Well, you seem happier when Evan's around and... I'm happy for you." She smiles.
I stare at her, my jaw slightly agape. "Uh.. thanks."
I look down, shifting. "Well, have a good day at school, I guess."
"Yeah, I will... I guess." I mumble, giving her one last incredulous look.
I walk out the front door, my thoughts jumbled. My thoughts race as I make my way to school. I bump into Evan, my suspicious mood fading quickly. The confusion is replaced with joy instead. "Hey, Evan, how are you?" I smile.
"Good." He nods, taking a better look at my face. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?"
"You look like you haven't slept in days." He frowns.
"Gee, thanks, 'best friend.'" I laugh, rolling my eyes.
"I'm serious, did you sleep at all last night?" He inspects my eyes further.
I shrink back, laughing breathlessly. "Yeah, I got, like, an hour or two."
"Jeez, Y/n." He mumbles.
"It's fine. I'm fine." I shrug. "Just a bit tired."
He hums, still frowning. "Don't worry about me. I'm fine."
He nods, sighing. "Promise me you'll get sleep tonight?"
"How are you supposed to be sure of that?" I ask.
"He's gotta sleep with you of course." Jared interrupts Evan's response.
I glare at him as he raises his eyebrows. "What? It's the only way he'll know." Jared snickers.
"Jared, do you ever shut up?" Evan laughs quietly, his face red.
"Depends. Are you good at sex?"
"What?" Evan looks physically taken aback by the question.
"Why the fuck would you shut up during sex?" I ask. "Wouldn't you be loud?"
Evan looks at me with wide eyes. "Bold of you to assume I'm not into gags." Jared replies.
"That's fucking gross."
"I'm not, relax. I was making a joke. Beside, I don't need you to kink shame me." Jared looks me up and down.
"You're so fucking gay." I say.
"Wow. Are you really assuming my sexual orientation?"
"It was a joke." I mock him.
"You know, Y/n, you're not bad." Jared smirks. "Good choice, Evan."
"You know, Jared, I wish I could say the same about you." I say.
"Feisty. I like it."
"God, You are so dense."
"Dense? I can assure you—"
"Jared, please, don't say any more." Evan interrupts.
"Fine, Fine." He raises his hands as if to surrender. "I'll shut up now."
