A Crystal Raft

A dance and a struggle like that of a rose
Wrapped in thorns to protect its petals
We bar ourselves and refuse to expose
The deepest parts of us; the beings of lovers.

Like two doves battling a thunderstorm
We are together and yet sometimes apart
Beating our wings tirelessly; we perform
A single show only we hold audience to.

We've had these moments of pure quiet
Wishing the other would give in and settle
The fights the we regret and it riots
But even wars take time to handle

We've fought and gasped against flooding rivers
But never have I been more settled on a floating raft
A raft with pieces of crystal; a forgiving life giver.
A perfect guardian angel to the demon down under.

So down we travel this winding, vast flourish.
Together, hand in hand, the years start to blur
A support system like ours takes time to nourish.
Because we have a partnership like no other.
