"Worst feeling in the world is knowing you did your best but it still wasn't good enough"

The Mute Speaks

A couple days had gone and I was getting much more comfortable with everyone. By everyone I meant except Kye who still hadn't said a word to me.

I woke up to the sun glinting through the curtains.

Felix's alfredo Spaghetti was still sweet in my mouth from lasts night's dinner. He practically pleaded Delmira to let him cook but damn he knew his stuff.

I forced myself out of bed, smoothing out the shorts and tank top that I had on. My feet made contact with the cold wooden floor and I retracted my feet.

It took me a bit to realise that I had no bathroom of my own and I guessed that I had to share with the others.

My hand was almost going to turn the door handle before I realised that my arms were basically exposed.

"Sugar" I said to myself before thinking quick on my feet.

I decided to pull on a hoodie and leggings just so I could use the bathroom.

Feeling assured I stepped out and tried to remember where Lucy said the bathroom would be.

"Room...room....room" I said pointing at the doors as I walked passed "Ah ha! The bathroom" I said quietly, freely walking in.

To my shock Kye was in there. Shirtless and brushing his teeth. He didn't notice me yet but as I backed out he made eye contact with me.

He looked as surprised as I was but couldn't say a word since he had a literal tooth brush sticking out.

Weirdly his demeanour changed and he smirked a little. He looked...good...really good. I noticed myself staring and quickly walked out shutting the door behind me.

"You ok?" Leo said behind me making me jump.

He could really scare people if they aren't aware.

He laughed and rubbed the back of his head. "Haha sorry didn't mean to scare you"

I rolled my eyes and began to walk past him when he pulled me back by the hood and looked at my torso weirdly.

"Why are you wearing a hoodie in this weather?" He questioned scrunching his eyebrows together in a cute way.

"Ummm no reason" I shrugged playing it off cool.

He continued to look at me strangely as if examining my response before shrugging his own shoulders and walking off.

"Weird girl" he said quietly to himself, not realising I could still hear him.

He's not wrong.

A couple hours had passed and I found myself doing nothing. The rest had gone to school and I just sat there in my own blank space.

With the thought that I was home alone I grabbed a book from the side table.

"A clean slate" i read out which was the title of the book.

After a few minutes in I started to hear some shuffling from upstairs. It kept on making me feel on edge and I hated it.

All of a sudden a male figure was walking past the living room door and picking up the house phone.

He seemed to be dialling in a hurry while finger tapping on the counter out of impatience. "Ugh come on come on" he said, voice very low.

"Must be Felix" I thought to myself still keeping my presence hidden.
