"Why does it hurt so much even though neither of us held back"

A stranger to Love

Kye froze, eyes trained on me in grave suspicion.

"What are you talking about?" He hissed, even more confused than before.

"I felt your pulse" I repeated getting closer to him.

I sat next to him, putting two of my fingers against his wrist and staring deep into his eyes.  He didn't resist which was shocking.

"When we was in the restaurant. Your pulse elevated. Your pupils dilated"

He looked at me, lost for words. This was the first time that I realised I made Kye speechless and I couldn't tell if that was a good thing or something dangerous.

"You're even doing it again" I plainly said touching his cheek.

Without another word I stood up and left the living room, leaving a drained and lost Kye alone to think and breath.

"His pulse elevated again" i said to myself while going up the stairs. "Even Kye can't explain that"

"Wait...so what happened?" Katy giggled, leaning real close to me.

"I've told you this like 5 times, I'm not repeating it"

"But it's weird hearing it from you" Katy whined, nudging me in the shoulder in the process.

"I don't really want to hear it another time" Lucy added.

"You're no fun" Katy sat, crossing her arms.

I rolled my eyes while taking a bite out of my chocolate bar. "No, I'm not"

"I hope Felix is ok" Lucy sighed, playing with her food a bit.

"He's fine. He rejected money. It's not a big deal"

Katy looked at both of us conversing before talking.

"Yeah, but it's money you worked hard for and obviously that should have meant something"

"It wasn't tough work. No big deal"

Who was I kidding? It was the hardest thing I had to adapt to. Fortunately Katy and Lucy had the slightest idea of what I was now up to with the rest.

Katy patted my back making me lean forward in dissatisfaction. "And so what?! He was a dick!"

Lucy sat up and glared at Katy deep in the eyes.

"Hey that's my-" Before she could finish her sentence I noticed her glance in one direction.

I followed her gaze until I meant Felix's.

"My- my friend" Lucy's expression dropped substantially.

"He's more than upset Regan" she said playing with her food again.

"I can see that. But what now?"

"I'm going to talk to him."

"You are?" I replied, shocked at what I was hearing.

"I am"

Lucy threw her coat to the side before standing up and making her way to Felix. He was leaning against the wall with his head held up high and his eyes closed but when he noticed Lucy's presence it was like he put up a barrier between him and her mentally.

I could tell he was faking it for Lucy. I wondered if she realised that too.

"Hey Regan" Jackson called from the other side of the canteen.
