Chaotic London

"A huge explosion has occurred today in Amhurst road, hackney borroughs. Twelve persons were killed in today's explosion. Fifty one persons are still hospitalized.

The police are still investigating the crime scene. Not ordinary gas explosion. Insider source confirmed it might be one of terrorist attacks. No one has claimed responsible for the attack yet."

Gerard turns off the TV.

It's still chaotic out there. It's impossible to take her to hospital right now. The traffic jam is crazy.

Fortunately her fever has subdued a lot. Gerard changes the ice pack on her forehead.

(I don't know why. I barely know this woman. Thinking she might die. Something in me felt dying too).

"Who are you, Nina? Why you have great effects on me?" asks him.

Of course there's no answer.

Gerard did his best to subdue her fever. Using paracetamol and ice packs.

Six hours later ...

Three bombs have occurred in London in the same day. All in busiest streets. Casualties are great.

Gerard turns off the TV again. The hospital must be packed with injured folks. Luckily her condition has been stabilized.

"Water..." murmurs her softly.

Gerard quickly grabs a bottle of water for her. He helps her to drink it. She coughs when she got choked.

"Easy...drink more slowly."

"Where am I?"

"Do you know me?" asks Gerard.

Nina smiles weakly. She teases, "My stalker."

She faints again. Gerard checks her pulse. Steady, strong pulse. He sighs out of relief.

London is in chaos. A bunch of local thugs have been robbing nearby stores where the bombing took place. Fishing in murky pond.

*****

Pain.

Pain.

Her body felt numb. Her chest hurts.

She looks down. A hole on her chest. Blood is oozing out, painting her white gown red.

It's such a pretty wedding gown.

"No, please don't leave me. I couldn't live without you..." pleads a man desparately.

She tries to smile. Her vision is blurry. Life is seeping out from her.

"I...lo...ve..."

It takes a while before her vision becomes clear again. Gerard looks worried sick. He tucks a strand of hair to the back of her ear.

He asks, "How do you feel?"

"Exhausted... What... happened?"

"I don't know. You just passed out."

"Tea ...bad tea..."

"What tea?"

She feels awful. Feeling like she has been ridden in roller coaster for many times. Her head is swirling. Beads of perspiration on her forehead despite the AC is running on full speed.

"Nina? Are you okay?"

Gerard tries to dial 999 to ask for immediate ambulance. The line is still busy after 6 hours passed since the first bombing. He isn't the only one looking for help in London.

Riding in a car is out of questions. They could get stuck in a car for hours in such crazy traffic jams. Many roads have been closed for further investigation. Leaving only few routes available.

"Stay with me, Nina. Don't give up now."

He holds her hands. Refusing to let it go.

A knock on the door. He totally ignored it. The door got unlocked. Gerard turns around. His hand is holding a throwing knife.

He exhales his breath.

It's just Mike. Like him, he knows how to picklock a door lock. Part of their training as agents.

Mike scolds, "You didn't pick up your phone."

He finally sees her. He stares to Gerard. And back to her.

Mike says, "Whatever she doing here, she must go."

Gerard says, "She is sick."

"Take her to a hospital and leave her there. Terrorists have attacked London. Boss asked if we could go back."

Gerard shakes his head.

He says, "We are no longer part of them, Mike."

"You changed. You used to be one of our best agents."

Mike looks disgusted when he leaves the room.

Gerard puts back the knife into his belt. He doesn't have any bullet in his gun yet. No worries. He is also an expert in using knives.

He feels thirsty so he drinks a glass of water from the tap.

(Nina is just Nina. A woman I barely knows. What makes her special?)

Gerard returns, sitting next to her on his bed.

He jokes, "This is the second time in my bedroom, on my bed. And I still didn't get laid. You're driving me nuts."

A kiss to her temple.

"Get better soon, Nina. So we could play."

*****

Somewhere nearby. In a minivan, parked near Gerard's B&B.

Mike asks, "Gerard is falling for her. Never see him like this  Do you think he's still the one?"

"He's top of our suspects list. You know it too," replies Alex, their tech guy.

"I know. It wasn't me. So it must be him. Still couldn't believe he would betray us. He isn't that kind of person. Doing everything for money."

"Mike. This is just a job. I know he is your friend. Don't let your heart clouded your better judgement. Cost life."

Mike is silent. He goes out to smoke a cigarette. Hate spying on Gerard. Boss' order. Can't help it.

Their last assignment?

Failed to nail boss of international terrorist. Fifty one agents died on spot. Gerard and Mike were few of injured ones. In the end, the rest of the injured agents died. Leaving only Mike and Gerard as prime suspects.

Gerard only took one bullet. In non lethal spot. It's so obvious why he could be the traitor.

Mike inhales the smokes. He isn't a real smoker. Only a cigarette whenever the stress is unbearable.

Planted a bug in Gerard's bedroom earlier. The guy was too occupied with her. He didn't even notice it.

Mike whispers, "Stupid fool. Love could kill you, pal. Never, never fall in love."

He blows some rings of smokes to the air.

London is in great chaos right now.

Terrorists managed to bombed this crowded city. M16 and government took the bullets from the angry masses. Citizens are blaming them for failing to protect them.

The leader of M16 had promised to resign after he took down the culprit behind the bombing.

Mike whispers, "It couldn't be him. He wouldn't do this. Then who?"
