Snowflakes

We found a perfect spot on the grass under the trees in Central Park. There were birds flying through the sky. Some of them soared after each other while others perched up on a tree. Snowflakes began to slowly drop down onto the grass. The whole area looked like a scene from a Christmas card.

This kind of reminds me of the park by our house.

Liam reached over, grabbing my glasses off my face. I saw the blurry outline of him get up and start running. I stood up and ran after him, "No fair! I am blind without those."

I looked around at the blurry world, "You know I will need those back at some point! I can't go to festival without them."

Out of nowhere he tackled me and started laughing, "Your stepdad was right. You suck at sports!"

He put my glasses back on my face and gave me a quick kiss before I pushed him off, "It's not that I suck. I just don't like them."

He laid next to me, both of us now covered with snow and grass. We sat for a few minutes watching the sky until he was the first to break the silence, "So what's the story with the tattoos?"

I looked over at him then back up to the sky, "It is actually an idea I got from Officer Jones... like a way to keep my mind away from the giant scar are my arm... I also noticed you had a mark on your wrist too."

He sat up, pulling at his jacket sleeve, "Yeah... I am sorry. My dad burnt me there when..."

I sat up too and reached over grabbing his arm, "You don't have to be sorry. It wasn't your fault."

He pulled his sleeve down a bit showing a dark mark almost in the shape of a heart right on his wrist, "I have just been trying to hide it. I thought if I didn't see it I wouldn't remember it was there. I didn't think you would notice."

I looked down at the scar lightly brushing my finger over it, "Of course I would notice. You don't have to hide things from me."

He wrapped his arms around me, causing us to fall back into the snowy grass. I chuckled, "We are going to get cold if we keep rolling around in this snow."

He gripped me even tighter, "I don't see a problem with it. You are pretty comfy to lay on and you are protecting me from the snow."

I pushed him into the snow next to me, "Well you are not very comfy to have laying on me."

He smirked, "You are going to regret that."

"Oh really?"

He grabbed some snow throwing it at me and took off running. I shivered at the cold.

Oh he is going to regret that.

I got up chasing after him with a giant snowball.

The next hour was filled with us having a snowball fight and throwing each other in the snow.

We were now walking over the the tattoo parlor from central park. Both of us are covered in snow and pieces of grass. Liam was happily skipping and jumping along the sidewalk. A few people giving him weird looks now and then.

I caught up to him and grabbed his hand, "Don't forget we were supposed to stay together. Mr. Bennet would go nuts if I came back without you."

He smiled and pulled me along with him, "Sorry I can't help it. Everything is just so pretty in the snow."

I looked around us at all the snow that was fluttering through the air.

It is pretty. We never really get snow like this back home.

I looked back at Liam. His eyes were shining so bright with happiness. A few flakes of snow were sticking into his blonde hair, making it sparkle at certain angles. He looked back at me too, "I'll race you."

I shook my head, "You are sure a little kid."

He stopped, pulling me into him, "But I am your little kid."

He kissed my cheek before taking off running.

Dang it!

I ran after him, "You tricked me!"

He looked back for a second and winked at me. I was about to catch up to him but he picked up his pace.

We were at the parlor in no time and Liam easily won the race.

I am really out of shape.

He stood by the door waiting for me to catch up. I walked up to him, trying to catch my breathe, "Last chance to back out."

He laughed, grabbing my hand, "Hell no! Let's do this!"
