*15 YEARS LATER*
I am pacing back and forth backstage.
Where is he? He should have been here by now. Out of all days to be late!
Mr. Bennet is sitting next to his wife, Sorina, watching my frantic pacing, "Dominic, calm down he will be here."
The flew open, revealing a very angry Ella, "I don't care if he is your husband. I WILL STAB HIM TO DEATH WITH MY BOW IF HE ISN'T HERE!!!!"
Ali popped in behind her looked equally pissed.
She really has never changed one bit. Dyed hair and all.
A few stagehands tried to quiet her down since the audience was being seated but there is no way they are going to stop a very pissed off lesbian named Ella. Ali will just add to the fire too. Trust me I lived with them for five years!
I began to pace back and forth even faster in frustration, "Where is he?!"
I then felt arms wrap around from behind me, stopping my pacing, "You really thought I wouldn't make it."
I turned around in Liam's arms, "Well... you did say you were gonna be here twenty minutes ago! So yes I think-"
He silenced me with a kiss and then kissed the wedding ring on my finger, "You think I owe you an apology... I am sorry but our son decided he didn't want to wear the tail coat but he put it on after some convincing."
"Daddy! Daddy!"
I look down to see our cute little black haired son in concert dress grabbing at my legs. I reached down and picked him up, "Hey Alex, were you giving your dad trouble?"
He gave me a bright smile, "No! I just don't like wearing this, Daddy!"
Ha! He is only 8 and he already knows the evils of concert dress.
I set him down, "I know... Now, you go along with your Aunt El so you can go to your piano."
Ella gave me a death glare, "If he starts calling me that, Dom. I swear I will break my violin over your head."
I smirked, "Good, we have too many violins in this world anyways."
Liam laughed and high fived me, "Oooo he roasted you! Score one for the gays and zero for the lesbians."
She narrowed her eyes at me, "Come on, Alex, let's get away from these violas before they infect you with their bad playing."
Hey, we aren't that bad.
They both went on stage to applause and Ella sat next to him by the piano. He won't play without someone next to him because of his nerves. It works out though because we can turn the sheet music for him.
I see my mom and stepdad go on stage next from the other side. My mom is the one to grab the microphone, "Good evening... We hope you had a wonderful weekend of music. I know every student had a fantastic competition and an amazing experience playing on this glorious stage at Carnegie Hall. Tonight we have been graced with the chance of giving the highest scoring student and also a deserving student scholarships of ten thousand dollars each... But tonight also marks fifteen years since our sons death... Peter Oliver was a musical prodigy as some would say. He mastered piano and many other instruments. He just about talented in anything having to do with music. Sadly, a drunk driver in 2016 ended his career by paralyzing him and later ending his life... Our youngest son created this scholarship program so that his brother's legacy shall live on... So, without further a due, preforming Debussy's Clair de Lune with their son, Alex, on piano. World famous viola duet, Dominic and Liam."
Liam grabbed my hand and we both walked out to the stage with thunderous applause. I looked out into the crowd seeing Officer Jones, Lucy, and Ali sitting right at the front row. I then glanced at Liam as we lifted our violas to our shoulders. His eyes still as bright as when we were first here. He stared at me mouthing the words 'I love you.'
I stared back at him and smiled before we both lifted our bows to the string. Alex began playing and we came in with him. The music flowed and filled the hall bringing some of the audience to tears.
I looked back at the piano again seeing my brother sitting right next to Alex. He looked around the hall then back at me and smiled. He gently lifted his hands to the keys playing along with Alex. I focused back on my playing and the flow of the music until it came to the final note. Right as Alex hit the last key, my brother, still smiling, floated off like a soft mist.
I will miss you, Peter. Until next time...
The crowd all clapped and Alex came up to take a bow with us. I grabbed Liam and kissed him just like what he did to me at the end of our high school competition.
I smiled brightly, "I love you too."
Liam pulled me into a hug and I grabbed Alex to hug too, "Both of you. Always."
Always.
