Why not, let's have another version of this piece!!!!!!! And from one of my favorite movies!!!!!! - Mad dog
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Dominic come on we have to practice before we get on stage!"
It was the day of the concert already. Liam and I have been practicing a lot over the past week.
Well most of the time just messing around with each other... He is distracting.
He was pulling me by the my arm to the theater. And yeah we are way pasted the call time but we are going to be up last after our orchestra so it still works out. We just have to be on stage before our group starts. The only problem left now is trying to get through the parents in the lobby to the practice rooms.
We ran through the door of the lobby.
THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN HERE!
Liam looked over the crowd like he was trying to figure out a puzzle. He found a clear path and pulled me along with him. We finally made it to a room after fighting off the crowd.
He closed the door and looked over at me. He fixed my bow tie and flattened down my hair, "You're a mess." He laughed. I smiled out of embarrassment.
We got to practice our duet a couple of times before we had to sprint on stage for our orchestra pieces.
It was weird to see him sit in the very front while I was alone in the back. I trying to pick his sound out of the orchestra but it was impossible. I began to make mistakes but I still managed get through each piece. When Mr. Bennet had us stand at the end, nerves began to kick in. My stomach began to fill with butterflies as we walked into the wings. Mr. Bennet began his speech about our performance while the rest of the orchestra stacked up the chairs and stands. Liam grabbed my hand, "Are you okay? You don't look so good."
I nodded, "Yeah, I am just a little nervous."
He smiled and his eyes twinkled, "Don't worry. I will be with you the whole time."
Mr. Bennet ended his speech and we walked on stage to thunderous applause. The lights were so blinding for some reason. Mr. Bennet left the stage and Liam lifted his viola to his shoulder. I did the same but I was a lot more stiff. He breathed in and we began.
My hands were shaking so much and it felt like with every note I played the audience came closer. The room was getting smaller and smaller. The notes began to blur together and I couldn't hear anything.
Oh god, why can't I hear myself? What is happening?
Liam stopped playing and the audience let out a noise in surprise. My whole body was shaking and I dropped my bow. Liam came closer and picked it up. He placed it into my hand and smiled. He looked into my eyes, "It's okay, just close your eyes and listen to me as you play.... Let's start over."
There was a mummer over the crowd. Liam called out to them, "Hello everyone! We just need to start over... Yeah I know it's like the worst thing you can do at a concert but we all make mistakes. So here we go again with Clair de Lune."
He looked over at me and we began playing again. I had my eyes closed, listening to every note he played. My nerves disappeared and I opened my eyes. The lights were warming and focused on us. Every note seemed to let off a burst of emotion.
So beautiful.
Liam and I moved as we played. It was as if we were waltzing together on stage. We both probably looked weird but none of that mattered. We were the only thing that mattered at that moment. We soon hit the last note and it rang through the hall.
No, why is over already? I want more.
The audience threw themselves from their chairs and broke out in applause. Some of them were even crying. Liam grabbed my hand and we both bowed. He smiled and hugged me, "Your playing was beautiful. You brought the audience to tears."
When we walked off stage the still were clapping. Mr. Bennet seemed mad at first but, started to laugh. He patted us on the back, "Liam I don't know how you did it but Dominic is a great musician now."
Liam looked at me, "I didn't do anything, he was like this all along. He just needed someone like me to guide him."
"Well you guys have just earned a spot to play together at competition this year."
Mr. Bennet walked back on stage giving his closing speech. Liam hugged me again, "We are going to competition! I can't believe it!"
Oh god. Competition. After what just happened? Then again I have never been that happy on stage since my brother. As long as Liam is with me, I will always be happy.
