I have been listening to this too much *sighs*. Here is another chapter - Mad Dog
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We were both discharged from the hospital a couple of days later. Officer Jones was taking us home in his unit. I thought it was funny to sit in the back without having hand cuffs on or actually going to jail.
Liam and his mom were going to stay with Officer Jones for a bit, while their house gets cleaned up.
We pulled up to my house and Officer Jones got out; opening the door for me. Liam got out and hugged me then looked over at Officer Jones, "Can stay with him for the night?"
He sighed, "Your my mom hasn't seen you Liam. We should probably get going."
Liam just stared at him, "Please..."
He caved in, "Fine. I will pick you up after my shift ends at six. I don't want to hear any complaining when it's time to leave."
Liam just smiled and grabbed me, running towards my house, "Thanks."
My step dad was watching TV while my mom was in the kitchen. She came out and greeted us, "Hello Liam, it's so nice to see you. Will you be staying for dinner?"
He gave her a hug, "It's nice to see you too. I am only here till six so probably not."
She smiled and walked back into the kitchen, "Dinner will be at five then."
I wrapped my arm around his shoulders, "I guess you are staying for dinner then."
We both laughed and walked into my room.
It felt nice to be home.
Liam flopped himself down on my bed, "It's nice being out of the hospital."
I laid down next to him, "We are going to have to get back to practicing more often if we are going to be ready for festival."
He smiled snuggled up next to me, "I am perfectly fine with that. Then after festival we have to get ready for our senior concert."
I can't believe the year almost over. So much has happened and I don't even know what I am going to do after high school. I have always wanted to play professionally but I don't want to be a soloist anymore. I want to play with Liam.
We both sat there holding each other, just enjoying being together.
Liam sprung up, "Well, like you said we better get to practicing... Ugh, I forgot my viola is in Officer Jones' car."
He flopped back down defeated.
I didn't want to say it but I did anyways, "I have another viola... my brother's... it's in his room."
Liam grabbed my hand, "You don't have to it's okay."
I stood up and pulled him with me, "It's fine... Let's go get it."
I stood in front of the door to his room. Unable to move.
Liam grabbed my hand and my body came back to life. I turned the knob and the cold wind blew passed me again. Everything in the room was still untouched. Everything still frozen in time. Except my brother sitting on the piano bench...
"Wow, you are brave. Coming back in here. I would have never expected it," he laughed, "After all I am just a twisted part of your imagination. How could have I know what you are going to do?"
I held Liam closer to me as we walked passed the piano.
His eyes followed us, "I don't know why you guys kept all this stuff. It's like my own little museum."
I reached over grabbing the viola case off it's shelf; revealing a clean spot out of all the dust surrounding it.
I started pulling Liam back towards the door.
My brother grinned, "Liam looks nice... too bad he can't see me. I would have liked playing with him. We could have had a trio."
I was starting to grow angry and I opened the door to leave.
"Oh Dominic, too bad you can't escape me... I will always be with you when you play... also didn't you notice you are seeing a lot more of me since your little... accident."
I closed the door behind us, "Yeah, but I like you better when I play. You're quiet."
Liam looked at me weird, "Who are you talking to?"
I shook my head, "No one."
I heard my brother whisper to me again.
"Oh but I am someone."
Liam gripped my hand tighter, snapping me back to reality, "I am always here if you want to talk."
I smiled, "I am fine when you are with me... we should probably start practicing."
We played until my mom called us for dinner. Then, Officer Jones picked up Liam.
I flopped back down on my bed and stared over to my brother's viola...
He appeared, his viola shining in the light, and he lifted his bow. His music filled the room.
I drifted asleep.
Why can't you be like this all the time?
