I had really wanted to stay in bed this morning. Grey didn't let me though. He said something about Siena needing to help me fight in midair so I could complete my transition and we could leave. I felt conflicted about that. I didn't really want to leave. I didn't really see why we had to go look for some obscure information that may or may not exist. I just wanted to stay here. Where it was safe. Where no one could get hurt.

"Jordan," I felt Grey's breath against my neck and he pressed his lips against my jaw. "She's waiting."

"5 more minutes. Please," I breathed, reaching up and gripping the hem of his shirt, pulling him closer. "Come back to bed."

"You know I wish I could, but we need to do this. Once we leave, we'll have to be ready for anything. Can't do that if you still don't know how to fight in midair," he hummed with a low chuckle. I grumbled and yanked on his shirt in a futile attempt to pull him back down and onto the bed.

"Why do we even have to leave? Can't we just stay here?" I mumbled in frustration. I heard Grey sigh and felt the mattress sink under him as he sat next to me.

"You know I wish we could do that too. But you don't know what the Reckoning will do if we allow it to start," he replied coolly. "And if Hell figures out how to force you to re-Pledge to them- all is lost."

"It's 9 in the morning, Grey, can we please save the whole ominous doom talk for after breakfast?" I chuckled, rolling over and cracking my eyes open. There was a gloomy grey morning light filtering through the massive windows across the room. Grey's back was to the window, casting a dark shadow across his face.

"I'll go make coffee. You go get ready. Siena wants to help you," his lips curled slightly in a subtle smile and he reached down, tucking my hair behind my ear.

"Fine," I grumbled and he smirked.

"That's my girl," he hummed, leaning down and pressing his lips to my forehead before standing up and sauntering out the bedroom door. I huffed, yanking the covers off my legs and shivering when my skin hit the brisk air. It looked chilly outside. It's a shame you couldn't really fly indoors.

I changed into leggings, a sports bra and a sweatshirt, fully aware I'd have to take it off once I started training. I was freezing though. And I like big sweatshirts.

I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and laced on my tennis shoes, quickly brushing my teeth and hurrying downstairs. I wasn't hurrying downstairs to go start training though- oh no, if you believed that, you'd be quite mistaken. I was hurrying to get coffee.

I hurried into the kitchen and Grey smirked at me, handing me a coffee. This boy- he knew me too well. Siena was sitting at the bar, sipping her coffee and talking with Allison, who sat next to her. Apparently everyone was waiting on me. Yikes. That made me feel bad.

"Oh, hey, Jordan- you ready?" Siena turned upon noticing I was here. She eyed me up and down, as if trying to figure out how on Earth she'd turn me into a battle angel. "You've got muscle. You'll be fine. We just gotta work on maneuvering around attacks and using your wings to your advantage," she explained, as if she could read my mind.

"How long do you think it'll take until we're ready to leave for Pennsylvania?" I asked, sipping at my coffee.

"A few days, tops. Allison and I think we're running behind schedule as it is, so we gotta power through all of this," Siena glanced briefly to Grey, who clenched his jaw slightly. I finished the last bit of my coffee and nodded at Siena and Allison, who set their cups down and slid off the barstools.

"I've gotta contact the Angel meeting us at Bryn Athyn to come up with the final plan, I'll meet you outside. Don't-" Grey eyed Siena and Allison, "-try to show off. Siena knows you're powerful. Save your strength for the flight. Please."
