BEYOND THE KILLER'S MIND

Chapter 3 - Beyond...what I thought.

Ashely, Marceline, and I were in the forest for a little friendly outing. We had set up everything by a river and had gone out for a hike before sunset. We walked along the river where out tents were and ended up somewhere on a hill. But last time I checked, Marceline was the vicious, merciless, horrifying, demonic murderer at school. So how in the world did she fall into a rushing river because a bird flew out in front of her and scared her so she slipped and fell into the river!?

"Marceline!" Ashely screamed in freight.

Marceline had slipped and fell into the water. Ashely went to the side of the river and tried to grab Marcrline before the current took her away. But instead Ashely almost got pulled in too. If I hadn't grabbed her arm when I did then I'd have to rescue two girls in a rushing cold river.

"Stay here Ashely. I'll get Marceline." I told Ashely as she sat by a tree.

I took off my shirt and threw it to Ashely. Hey, swimming with a shirt on slows you down and just gets in the way. I ran off down hill. Guessing that's where the current took her. As soon as I saw Marceline's head pop out of the water I dived in.

The water was freezing. Probably lower than 40 or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. And with the sun going down the water had nothing to heat it with. Splashing water in my face did not help, neither was taking off my shirt. I was so cold.

"Uhh!" Marceline was gasping for air.

The river's current wasn't that bad but the water still splashed you in the face. I swam towards Marceline. She now had drifted to the middle of the river. Which was a bad place to be. I finally reached her and grabbed her arm. I pulled her up from under the water so she could breathe. But as quickly as I grabbed her arm, it slipped away and Marceline's gasps for air began again.

I tried to grab her arm or her hand again but the water was starting to pull me down and I was also gasping for air now.

"Give me your hand!" I yelled to Marceline.

"No! I-I'm not touching you!" She yelled back her voice quivering.

"Now is not the time to be angry at me! Take my hand or drown."

"No!"

Marceline was already completely under water now. I had dove deeper into the water to get her. But to my shock she wasn't there. I came back up for air and saw Marceline struggling for air. She wasn't going to take my hand any time soon. Not even if it depended on her life.

So I took her hand and held it in mine firmly just in case she decides to cut my hand off so I can't touch her. Then I pulled her closer to me and swam to the shore. I held her waist and swam with her on the side where the current wasn't coming. So that all the water went to my back instead of hers.

Once we reached land Marceline was shaking. Like literally SHAKING! Her lips were purple, her hands were clenched into fists tightly, she was curled up into a ball. Marceline was almost looking like a vibrating zombie ball.

I stopped to catch my breath and then terraced over to Marceline. She flinched when I touched her. I pulled her by the shoulders and set her right in front of me. I hugged her, and she didn't push me away or say anything. Marceline just let me hug her. She was facing me all curled up, shaking. I placed my hands on her hands to warm her up. Marceline's hands were so cold. I held her hands in one hand and hugged her with the other. She had such small hands. Both of her little fists fit inside my one hand.

*New Discovery #05: Marceline has cute little hands.

We stayed like that for a few minutes and then I tried to take this time as an opportunity.
