BEYOND THE KILLER'S MIND
Chapter 5 - Beyond...what I've done.
Marceline hasn't spoken to me for almost two days now. That doesn't really sound that long but it feels like two months. I miss her voice.
Marceline's soft, edgy voice. I miss her ever so often mean comments to me. I miss her dark gentle eyes. Her silver black hair. Her clear untouched neck. Her sweet lips. Her rare smile. Her death stare. Her random mood swings. Her tiny hands. I miss Marceline.
Since Saturday night she hasn't said a word to me. Ashely even said she hasn't said a word to her either. Marceline blocked everyone out. Even her mother. I'd hear yelling and no answer when I drove by Marceline's house to check on her. I never went in but I'd park outside her house and look at the windows trying to figure out which one was hers.
She didn't even answer the teachers at school. Thankfully she didn't get in trouble. I couldn't sleep thinking of her and feeling guilty. Every time I heard something that reminded me of her, I just shut down. Whatever I was doing suddenly got screwed up. Even if I was just holding something I'd suddenly drop it then try to pick it up and fall instead.
I was a complete mess. Marceline seemed so plain. Like she always was at school until someone came to talk to her. But she was sad. I could see it in her now plain eyes. Marceline was gone. Who she was now was nothing but a blank sheet of paper...
"What did you do!" Ashely yelled from across the hall.
"Huh?" I asked in confusion stopping in my tracks.
"I finally got the puzzle done! Marceline's been acting weird since Sunday! Meaning something had to happen on Saturday! Well where was she Saturday?" Ashely interrogated me grabbing my shirt and pulling it closer to her in an angry way.
"She was at my-" I answered still confused.
"She was at your house. As far as I know she was fine when I dropped her off! So that means that something HAD to happen while she was there with you and your gang of heartbreakers!" Ashely barked.
"What? Heartbreakers?" I asked.
"That's right! I'm not afraid to insult you guys! Now tell me what you did to Marceline! Or else I WILL make you AND your friends eat dirt!" Ashely demanded stomping her foot on the floor.
By then there was already a crowd of people taking pictures and whispering around us. Ashely didn't seem to care because her eyes were focused on me. However, Ben and Louis saw the entire thing because they were coming out of the classroom I was just in when Ashely came to happen.
"Chill out Ashely. Nate didn't do anything. We were with him the entire time." Louis defended me.
"You left before Marceline did. So did Ben. Leaving Marceline and this guy alone in HIS house! How do YOU know nothing happened!" Ashely scolded.
What is she? A private investigator?
Things were starting to get intense. Even teachers were watching now and not doing anything.
But sure. Why not make things even more worse by letting the person that I didn't want to see most, stumble upon this situation?
"I'm done!" Marceline screamed as I turned to see her standing by the crowd with her fists clenched and her body tense.
Before any of us could say anything Marceline ran out disappearing into the crowd. I'd doubt she actually stayed in school after that. With everything that's been going on. No one could have stayed in school.
"This is all your fault." Ashely said firmly instead of yelling at me.
Then she ran off after Marceline. Ben and Louis stood there asking me what happened. While I froze and didn't say a word. The crowd stayed surrounding us and inching closer by the second taking pictures with their phones and flooding me with questions that I was unable to answer.
This situation seemed to be getting more and more worst by the second. Every time I did something, Marceline had to suffer. Every time I thought I was keeping Marceline safe, Marceline got hurt. Everything I'd done made me lose the girl I thought about most in my life.
What have I done...
