BEYOND THE KILLER'S MIND

Chapter 6 - Beyond...missing her.

The day of the fairy tail presentations came. Marceline wasn't at school. So we went on and did the play without her. Ben asked Ashely's teacher if we could borrow her for a few minutes. She ended up being Cinderella. Louis didn't give Ashely Marceline's costume though. He instead made her wear our uniform for the entire play.

Without Marceline we couldn't get full credit for the entire thing. We passed with an B+.

Ashely didn't say a word to me after and before the play. I couldn't help but feel so guilty. This was all my fault. If I had kept my cool and didn't kiss Marceline she would have never acted this way. I silently cursed at myself.

"All right class, now that everyone has finished their plays. We'll continue our lesson on page fourteen..." The teachers voice faded as I walked back to my seat.

"She didn't show." Said a voice a few feet from me.

"Probably didn't want to be Cinderella." Said another voice.

"She wouldn't fit the part anyways. Ugly isn't exactly Cinderella material." Said someone else.

A sharp flash of anger spiked in me after that comment. Marceline isn't ugly! I stopped in my tracks and turned to face Linda, Cathy, and Jill. They were snickering quietly. I walked over in front of their desks and a smile quickly appeared on Jill's face.

"Hey Nate! That was a great performance. Maybe next time I could be Cinderella?" Jill chirped flipping her hair with her hand and batting her eyes at me.

"Oh no. You wouldn't fit the part. Bitchy isn't exactly Cinderella type." I shot at her giving her a 'shut up' smile.

I walked away and sat in my seat feeling even more angered than I did before. People were calling Marceline ugly. Marceline was pretty but she made all that prettiness go away with her personality. All of your attention was focused on her comments and actions. That you didn't notice that Marceline was actually not pretty, but rather cute.

I missed her.

After school I got a call from Ashely while at Ben's house playing video games.

"What's up?" I said into the phone.

"Is Marceline with you?" Ashely asked.

"No, I'm at Ben's house. Did something happen?" I asked her.

"Tomorrow is Marceline's mom's birthday." Ashely answered.

"Ha! I won!" I called out to Ben dropping my phone and giving Ben a bucket of ketchup.

"Fine." Ben said as he picked up the bucket and face planting his head into it.

I laughed then picked up my phone to take a picture when I remembered I was talking to Ashely.

"What? Sorry, Ben and I are playing video games." I told Ashely.

"Stop fooling around like idiots and listen to me!" Ashely yelled clearly angered.

"Okay okay. What were you talking about again?" I asked walking out the room leaving Ben covered in ketchup.

"Tomorrow is Marceline's mom's birthday."

"Is that why she wasn't at school?" I asked.

"Maybe. But I just came from her house and her mom said that she hasn't been home since yesterday." Ashely explained.

My heart tenses up. What if Marceline was kidnapped on her way home? What if Marceline got lost and is abandoned in a forest or something? What if Marceline was dead!?
