BEYOND THE KILLER'S MIND

Chapter 7 - Beyond...what rain gives.

Rain had started to fall from the dark gloomy sky. Hard. Out of nowhere rain began to fall. What once use to be a wonderful cool sunny day had turned to a dark saddening rainy afternoon.

My hair was soaked in a matter of seconds. My shirt followed after. Beginning to stick to my skin it really irritated me. I hated when my clothes stuck to me. Even during a sport when I was real sweaty. Lucky my backpack was water-proof. Thank god...

"Put me down!" Marceline screamed waving her hands in the air as I struggled to keep her in my grasp.

Whilst chasing Marceline into the parking lot I decided to pick her up bridal style. I started to walk towards my car. Obviously not liking the idea, Marceline tried to escape. Though to her dismay I didn't let her. No one was in the parking lot and thank god no one was. If someone saw us right now they would think I was kidnapping Marceline.

"I said put me down!" Marceline pleaded, "I hate cold water!"

I could see Marceline didn't like cold water but she didn't really seem to be shaking yet. So I chose to take advantage of her while I still had the chance.

"Only if you agree to go on a date with me." I stated with confidence.

Dear lord I was shocked at my sudden tone change in my voice. The words came out the way I wanted but the tone was so off my target. I meant to say it softly but playfully. Yet, I sounded like an old man trying to pick up 18 year old girls. What the heck!

"No! Why would I do that!? And with you of all people!" Marceline stopped struggling and put her hands around my neck to prevent herself from falling.

"Well...the only way to get out of the cold water for one. Why because I like you. And who else? Michael Jackson? I'm pretty sure you'd rather go on a date with someone more your age than someone who's dead. Not counting the being famous part." I concluded.

To my pleasure Marceline seemed to have actually thought about it. She had tighten her grip around my neck and now she was actually almost hugging me. Marceline's head was buried in my neck and her arms wrapped around me like a scared child. It was adorable!

"I don't have my backpack and I have lots of homework. Plus I don't think Ashely would like that." Marceline said quietly.

So she actually DID consider the idea. I'm getting pretty good at getting Marceline to agree with me. Finally, progress!

I walked a little further to my car and got my key from my pocket. Still holding Marceline in my arms. I unlocked the door and before I said anything, Marceline scurried inside. She literally climbed over the parking brake and coffee cup perfectly and made it to the other side of my car looking like a cute little black squirrel.

"You really don't like the cold rain do you?" I asked amused.

She shook her head.

"I'll go grab your stuff. Wait here until I come back. Here's the keys. Turn on the heater if you get cold. Make sure to open the door when I come back though." I threw Marceline the keys and then left to grab her stuff.

When I returned to the parking lot, with Marceline's backpack in hand, I was surprised to still see my car there. I thought she would drive my car off a cliff or something. Guess she isn't as dark as I thought.

I found myself opening my car door, unlocked and engine running.

"You okay?" I asked getting into my car and putting Marceline's backpack on my lap, "Marceline?"
