21| The dinner

Cheryl's POV

Toni and I were on the way to Thornhill after our afternoon of taking pictures and running by her parents. We stopped at the Topaz's house so they could watch Hot Dog since Toni wouldn't be home to take care of him, and so she could also get a dress from her old closet.

"You sure you still wanna go to this dinner, Babe?" I asked gently.

"I'm sure. It'll be okay Cheryl." She smiled back and held my hand.

We got to my house at 6:30 and I was told earlier that dinner would start around 8:00. We walked inside and then I lead Toni up to my room.

"You can put your dress in the closet for right now." I smiled at her.

"Okay!" She smiled back and put her dress on an empty hanger. She then started looking through my dresses. "Which one of these are you gonna wear?" She asked.

"I don't know. You pick for me." I shrugged and her eyes literally lit up.

Why is she so adorable?

She started to pick a bunch of dresses and came out with 4 of them. "All of these would look so cute on you!" She beamed.

"Well which one do you want me to wear?" I giggled.

"I don't know, they'd all look so good on you!" She said, obviously torn. "Maybe you could try them on and show me?" She asked gently.

"Okay!" I smiled and took one of the dresses off the pile. This was a short black lacy dress and it was pretty plain. I went into the closet and changed into it and came back out to her.

"Aww that's cute, Babe! Let's try this one now!" She said and handed me a pink one. I went and I tried it on and went out again. "Shit that's adorable on you! This is going to be hard." She exclaimed.

"Well there's 2 more left so let's try them on." I smiled back at her.

"Okay, try this one!" She said and handed me another black one. This dress wasn't mine.

"Oh that's not mine, it's Veronica's."

"Why is her dress in your closet?" She asked confusedly.

"Well she usually spends the night a lot and she always had to go back and fourth between her house and here so she decided to keep some of her things in my closet." I explained quietly.

"Ugh that must be annoying." She sighed. "Well how about you try this one on?" She said as she picked up the other dress. This one was a dark red and the top part was lacy with the sleeves that would go up to my elbows.

"Okay. Give me a second." I said and I changed again.

"Oooh that's sexy!" She grinned at me with a bright smile when I came back out to her. "Like it's still super cute but it's also sexy." She said and I giggled.

"You really think so?" I smiled and I could feel my cheeks burn red.

"I do." She smiled at me. "And I think we have a winner." She added.

"Okay, good! I like this dress too!" I said happily. I then put the black one and the pink one away, then I picked up Veronica's dress. "I'm going to take this to Veronica since she'll probably want to wear it. You should change into your dress and then we can do our hair." I explained.

"Okay!" She smiled. I left the room while she changed and I went down the hall to Jason's room.

As I walked to Jason's room I could already smell dinner being made and I couldn't wait to sit down and eat. It smelt like we were having ham, which will be good. Hopefully my mother is making cherry cheesecake too because she usually does and it's my favorite. I was still filled with anxiety over this dinner though. Jason already isn't Toni's biggest fan and I don't want to add my father to the list. It'll probably be fine since he thinks that Toni is only a friend. I need to relax.
