Note: In chapter 5 of the Ao3 version of this story I made it to where Cheryl made an instagram account so she could look at Toni's photography and Toni told her she should post art on it whenever she decides to. So keep that in mind a little bit as we move on with the story 😅
Cheryl's POV
It was Thursday afternoon and Aunt Alice and I had just gotten home from the art store she decided to take me to. I got some nice paints, canvas, and a variety of brushes. I got all the materials I'd need to make acrylic and watercolor paintings. I was pretty excited about the watercolor stuff because I've never used them before. I felt kinda bad because I have no idea how much all this cost but I knew it was a lot. Aunt Alice wouldn't let me look at the receipt so I think she though I'd freak out at the price and feel bad, and she would've been right about that. She just kept telling me that she wanted me to try painting and if it helps then it's worth whatever price.
I was now outside on the back patio where there was a good table for me to work at. I decided I would try watercolors first so I got the thick paper and sketched out a practice piece. It was some pine trees and the sun above them. I grabbed a small brush and dipped it in the cup of water I had brought out with me, and then got some light blue watercolor paint. I brushed a streak of the color where the sky was and it spread across the area a bit. I continued painting, being careful to not paint areas that would spread into the trees or sun. I also added different shades of blue and it had a really pretty effect to it. Once the sky was finished I worked on the trees and the sun, adding different shades of each color to really bring things together. I was happy with my result of the painting and I gently set it aside to dry as I thought of what to do next. I got my pencil again and sketched a drawing of myself. I hardly ever do self-portraits but I was in a good mood so I figured it would be fun. I sketched myself smiling with my hair in a ponytail, wearing what would be a red turtle-neck. The smiled was a close lipped smile so I didn't have to draw my braces and I didn't draw my glasses because I figured it would make it harder so if anyone asks I'll just say I'm just supposed to be wearing my contacts. In the background I just decided I'd go for a warm glow and maybe some blurred lights. Once I was done with my simple sketch I began painting again, enjoying every moment of it.

Toni's POV
"Hey guys!" I chirped as I made it to the lunch table. The whole group immediately turned to me with curious expressions.
"What's with that look, Toni?" JB asked.
"What ever it is, no." Jughead added with a chuckle as Betty hit him on the shoulder.
"How do you guys know I want something?" I asked and they all gave me a look. "Okay well it's not something bad! I was wondering if maybe you guys would like to take a weekend trip to Seaside next weekend? We all know Cheryl's had a rough time lately and I think going on a little vacation with all of us would really cheer her up."
"Ooh that sounds fun!" Josie beamed.
"Yeah, definitely in for that! As long as our parents say yes." Kevin added.
"Uh, Toni . . ." Fangs started as he looked at Jughead and JB. "I don't think all of us will be able to afford it. Hotel rooms are really expensive and we'd also have to pay for food and gas and anything else we'd buy." He explained sadly.
"Oh yeah. I guess I got excited and forgot about that part."
"Nonsense guys! My family has a really nice cabin right outside of Seaside that we could stay at! There will be room for all of us and it will be a blast!" Veronica offered happily.
