32| Weekend trip

Cheryl's POV

It's been a week now since my dream and I was still obsessing over Claire, but only Jason knew. I haven't told Toni about it yet because I don't really know what she's going to say. Last Friday we were too busy celebrating that I got my braces off and I'm so happy with how my teeth look now. She told me I still look just as beautiful but she's happy for me. It was Friday again and I had no idea what we'd be doing this weekend. Last weekend Toni and I painted together like we said and she was right when she said she wasn't good at painting, so I had to help her. I did make a really beautiful acrylic painting that I adored though. It was a scenic painting of Toni and I riding on her motorcycle by Sweetwater river. We were just a small little part of the painting and it focused more on the woods and the river and adding us in there was more subtle. It's my favorite thing I've painted so far and Toni said it was her favorite too.

I was now in my room and I was sketching little drawings when Toni called. I found it odd because she was calling an hour earlier than normal because she usually calls to check in at lunch, but I answered anyways.

"Hey, cutie." She smiled when I picked up the phone.

"Hi, Tee-Tee. How's your day going?"

"Pretty good, but if you wanna make it better can you do something for me? No questions asked?"

"Umm, sure."

"Okay! So I need you to go in your closet and get your suitcase. Put some pajamas for a couple nights and then a bunch of warm clothes you'll be comfortable in. And pack a swimsuit." She explained.

"Are we going on a tri—"

"No. Questions. Asked." She reminded. "It's a surprise so please just do that and we'll be there in an hour."

An hour? It's only 11:30 and school doesn't let out till 3:30. What's going on?

"Why are you—"

"Cheryl. It's a surprise, so please just do what I asked and trust me. I promise you'll love it." She explained softly.

"Okay. I'll see you in an hour then?"

"Yep, see you then! Bye!" She said and then hung up.

That was weird. Oh well.

I closed my sketchbook and got out of bed to get my suitcase. I placed it on the bed and then I got everything I wanted to pack and placed it in. I rummaged though my drawers until I found a swimsuit to take.

I'm so confused on where we're going since it's late February and it'll be cold, so why would I need a swimsuit? I guess I'll find out.

I packed my winter boots that were fluffy on the inside since they will keep me warm and they're so comfy. They're my favorite shoes. I put them in the bag and then I got things from my bathroom I figured would be good to take and my phone charger and stuff. I also put my sketchbook in the bag too and then I zipped it up and decided to take it downstairs.

"Woah where are you going?" Mom asked me.

"I dunno. Toni wanted me to pack a bag but she won't tell me where we're going since it's a surprise." I said, not making eye contact with her as I put my bag by the door.

"Oh yeah. You'll have fun." She smiled at me but I just turned and started to go upstairs. "Cheryl come back here." She called back after I ignored her, and I continued to ignore her. I'm still mad about last week. I know Claire is alive and we're gonna find her. Once I was back upstairs I sat in my bed and realized I packed my sketchbook.
