Chapter 22
**Paige's POV**
I wake up after a long much needed nap. Even though I was out cold for a week. I start panicking that I don't see his face until I feel a warm body under me. I let out a sigh of relief and snuggle closer to him. He stirs slightly as his eyes open. A small grin spreads across his face,"Sleep well?"
I nod, pressing my lips to his. He grabs onto my back softly, careful not to hurt my fracture. Even though the bottom of my spine starts burning I put that out of mind as we kiss passionately. There's a soft knock on the door that pulls us apart. I blush when I see it's aunt Laura. She smiles brightly, her eyes wet as she rushes to my bed.
She hesitantly wraps her arms around me. "It's okay. I'm just a little sore." I tell her. She pecks my forehead, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "I'm so glad you're okay." I notice her glancing at my bald spot. A look of pity washes over her before she quickly covers it up with a smile.
"Where's Travis?"
"He had some family to see. He'll be in later."
I nod. Settling back into my bed. Arron has gotten up and paces around the room. "What's wrong?" I ask, adjusting my pillows.
He stops,"Nothing honey. Just thinking."
"About?"
He shakes his head. "Nothing. Stuff."
I give him a look and he sighs,"I don't want to worry you sweetheart. If it's that important though I'll tell you later."
"Should I go?" Aunt Laura asks, gesturing to the door.
Arron holds up a hand,"No. You're fine. I actually have to run some errands so I'll leave you two to it."
"Arron." I whine, my eyes pleading.
Arron frowns, walking over and tenderly kissing the top of my head,"I'll be right back."
"But I want you to stay." I say sadly.
Arron looks hurt, but shakes his head, this time capturing my lips. "You and your aunt need to catch up." He looks into my eyes,"I love you."
I take his hand in mine and bring it to my lips,"I love you more."
He smiles, running a thumb over my cheek before giving a quick smile and wave to my aunt. She waves back as he heads out without a second glance.
"That's odd." My aunt says, taking a seat next to my bed.
I shrug. "It has to be important. So I won't question it." Yet.
My aunt and I spend the next hour catching up. While I've been out she's been at home preparing the house for my arrival. She's taken off some days so she's able to stay with me for a little while once I come home. Travis comes a little while after with a vase of flowers. He smiles, poking my foot as he sets the vase down. "How are you?" He asks, taking a seat next to my aunt.
I shrug, snuggling further under the covers,"I've been better." I chuckle.
Travis nods,"We all have." He scratches behind his ear, an uneasy look on his face. "When do you think you'll be home? Amber misses you."
"I don't know." I smile, the thought of that little thing brings a happy memory of me chasing her around the house because she had one of my lip glosses in her mouth. "I miss her too."
Travis gazes out the window. A sudden awkward silence falls over us. It's like none of us know how to talk to one another. I start thinking of Arron. His reasons for leaving so suddenly. Then I remember Mike. I wonder where he is right now?
