There was a sound of rapid typing in the dim room. A plump shadow was bent over a laptop which was the only source of light in the dark room. The laptop sat on the low rise wooden table. It was cluttered with open ramen cups wafting the air with their stench from being left out too long. But the man grew used to the smell. It was not a bother to him anymore than the peeping of the medium sized microwave a feet from him. His eyes which were blood shot was wide open staring at the black screen without blinking for a second, his pupils were dilated following the complex characters, some were plain text in english, some were just symbols and numbers in different color code. He was not very good with computer programming language and coding  but he was learning little by little.
Sometimes he felt regret thinking of how much he had spent his life indulging himself with anime after anime since middle school. He should have learnt C++, Java, and HTML5. He would have gotten a more high paying job than a small time IT repairman part sales representative for a  sprint store but then he wouldn't survive life without anime cheering him up.

He wondered how had he managed to graduated with a measly associate degree when his eyes never left his smartphone. He watched countless Japanese anime to the point of living in a fog state of mind. Unable to catch sleep.
He had gone to the IT club per his professor's advise, repairing pcs for free to gain experience. It was maybe the only reason he managed to land a job at the small sprint store in the big city mall.

Then, he had spent half of his pathetic 30 years of life repairing smartphones and other miscellaneous tech gadgets for a thousand thirty hundred  a year.
He was now a laid off unemployed man in his thirty. Old, fat, and wasting away alone inside his cramped apartment.
He had been contemplating going back to school but then he had no source of income anymore and he was not about to get himself into debt with loans, his apartment contract was also going to expire very soon in three days.
He hated this. He couldn't stop himself from hovering back to his past and regrets.
A tired sigh escaped his thick lips which was surrounded by dirty sticky hairs. A sharp pain hit between his brows just behind his nose. He looked away from the computer screen and blinked his eyes consciously, then turn to hit the microwave open.
The ramen cup was cold but he did not warm it up. He realized in reluctance he needed a fork and he needed to move. His bed was grazing his back that was throbbing and aching now that his attention wasn't riveted to the computer anymore.
He shifted his body feeling the ache of each bones and muscles from being in the same position day after day. Awkwardly, he reached for the bed for support. Grunting, he began to struggle up on his knees which were on pins and needles. His feet were numb and he groaned as he finally stood on his unsteady feet. He winced in pain and gasp in laughter at the intense tingles. He had been sitting the whole day. He couldn't balance himself as he kept staggering on his feet like a blow-out balloon figure in the wind. Before he could right himself he tilted, a rising panic took a hold of him, waving his hands in the air for balance, his heart began to franticly pump blood fast for the first time in so long. Fear sharply stabbed his windpipe, his eyes closed tight. He crashed onto the floor. He was sweating, the heat began to congregate to his left arm he had his weight on. He struggled to sit up as he felt an overwhelming sensation of something heavy began pressing down on his chest.
He was panting, eyes wide. He couldn't move due to the pain sitting on his chest.
Gaines died staring at his computer screen.
