The smell of the forest was wet and clean brushing the tip of his small nose. He wondered if it was a side effect after his rebirth. As he grew more each day, his senses were heightened. He could hear the low rumble of his father's voice in the midst of the crowd of men ahead. There were excited chatter amongst the children and mothers standing around. He swiveled his big melon head everywhere. At last, he was finally outside. He took in his surroundings. The houses they passed gave him a warm feeling in his chest. The forest behind their residence was breathtaking. Deep green. Vibrant in color and thick with mysteries hiding in its shadows. It gave him a sense of excitement and fear rising in his small chest. His tiny hands that were limp around his mother's pale arms tightened around them. He could make out his fourteen years old brother with their cousin who turned fourteen today. He caught the tiny figure flashing from his mother's hold. His twin who was walking beside his mother was now running towards the crowd. His hair was fluttering like soft flames against his bronze skin.
Looking very handsome.
Shu Wei worriedly called for him from behind, warning him to be careful. His father turned to them and waved with a big smile. He was shirtless in jeans.
He wiggled to get down  and Shu Wei also put him down but did not let go of his hand so Gaines settled with walking slowly.
"Let's begin"
It was a different yet similar voice.
His cold faced uncle who looked just like his father...or was it the other way around.
Even his grandpa was there. Looking younger than his age. The three looked like they were cut out in the same mold. Showing three generations.
Beside his uncle was the shy looking aunty with big wide toffee eyes and brown hair.
They only had one son. Toby. Tobias Demis. The cousin who likes to come and annoy his brother from time to time. The video game companion for Henric. He was the big brother for Henric.
Gaines wondered where the streamers were. Where was the Hawaiian punch, the birthday cake? They aren't even wearing birthday hats.
Even stranger, there was so much excitement for the birthday boy but there wasn't any ja ja music. What was the deal?
He was very curious.
He paid attention until he fainted in shock.
