"Little cousin" Tobias.
His eyebrow lifted, amused.
Tobias had brought over some friends. They were looking for a mate and so will Tobias before he takes over the pack. They towered over him.
"Big cousin" Gaines answered flatly. He did not like the way they were looking down on him. There was undisguised sneers at the edge of their mouth.
Several days passed Tobias's homecoming party and Gaines was disappointed in the information he found. He knew what they were probably thinking in their little tiny minds.
Tobias looked more a man than a teenager.
He stood like the Eiffel tower, the bronze skin and red hair the Alphas of the pack seems to inherit made him look rugged in his plain shirt and jeans amongst them.
"Where is Henric?"
"I don't know"
"Okay if you see him..."
"Yes. I will let him know"
Tobias was satisfied and he smiled politely down at the fat little boy curled on the couch.
This little cousin of his was an Omega. Just a chip to his collection to rise towards the power level of a city wolf. Town wolves were too weak in their influence. Maybe support from a city wolf would make his stand firm.
Gaines did not know the thoughts of this boy.
There was no such thing as pack link. The acknowledged Alpha of the pack has a natural ability to call them to a pack meeting by sending his intentions in the air through howling. Anyone can hear it, but no one outside the pack can understand what the howl was.
Only two or more people that are close can share a mind link. This reduces the risk of exposing yourself to people you don't want.
It is an intimate connection.
Usually, mates can mind link each other as well as their children.
For Gaines, he was not close to anyone in his current family. His link was the weakest and thinnest. Though, his slightly less weak but flimsy link was shared with his twin and mother. Something he did not anticipate and he was glad of it, it would not be good to be found out at all.
His father under the demand of his mother have forced him out of the library to come here to the pack house. Shu Wei was concerned about his reclusive habit while Jud abhorred those baby fats on him and thought it would do him good to go out and play.
They wouldn't know he snuck up to the library that was public to the pack.
He was now reading their history.
"Little cousin, be careful with that book. Make sure not to hurt it okay?"
"Can it even read?" One of them glanced down at the book in his lap. Derision clear on his face. His handsome face was now grotesque by his ugly thoughts.
Tobias waved his palm dismissively.
"Saer, be more concerned with finding your mate. Will it be an Omega? You will see"
They slip out the wide open double door.
Gaines rose his head slowly and blink at where they had stood.
Was he always this tense? Was it because they were Alphas and he was an Omega or was it because of his social anxiety?
He fell into his thoughts.
Lost within them.
Debor saw this small pack and frowned. He will not take a mate from this place. It stank of mud. This thought was shared by the rest of the five boys. They admired Tobias but it did not warrant them to mingle with his pack.
They were more curious of the Alpha who did not fight for an Alpha position. They had met him and he was beyond their expectations. What weak Alpha? He was not weak but he was unlike the normal Alpha. He did not react to their open display of pheromones. Teen Alphas likes to be unrestraint. Their pheromones were like undulating waves filled with the intent to pressure the weak and challenge the strong but at the same time probe for a potential mate.
Most of the women here were ordinary wolfs, there was no alpha woman, and there were some omegas but they were too timid and one of them was that young fat one that did not seem scared of their pheromones. Oh, just like that Alpha.
"Was that Omega child...?" Lander wondered out loud.
"He is the son of uncle Jud and aunt Shu Wei" Tobias affirmed.
"Shu Wei from the Shu Clan Wolf?" Zho was amazed.
"Yes. He is of the Shu Clan Wolf." Tobias  nodded, smiling in pride.
"I may propose him for a mate when he is of age"
"You may have to wait longer for that Gar"
Saer broke into laughter at Debor's comment.
"He's a little piglet, unlike what an Omega werewolf should look"
Tobias chuckled. Not in the least affected but silently, he thought to himself that the little Omega must work hard to lose those baby fats.
Not one Alpha finds them appealing.
The Alphas interests were always a power play. They ended up competing in running in the woods. It would be a challenge. The Forests Spirits were finicky beings. Who was sleek enough to come out on top without the wrath of one Forests Inhabitants would be able to command the group without objections.
The Gold Line Pack was situated at the mouth of the Forbidden Forest, the wooden  houses were simple but modern built. The wolfs who did not like human workers till to their fields, while others left for outside work for the bigger human town near with their cars.
The land was still undeveloped.
Untouched. Its beauty was breathtaking. The road were beaten down gravels wounding through thick trees.
The Golden Line business was  new. It was a silk line field. They were creating spools of golden silk threads from an elusive spider. They were strong threads that can shred the skins of a wolf.
The previous Alpha had caught one female with an intent to take revenge for killing his warriors. It was later that he reluctantly breed it under the advise of his beta, creating a colony of them to spin their webs.
Humans were the labor. They were taught to process them at the cost of their tongues to ensure the secrecy of this type of elusive and dangerous spiders.
The booming business of the Golden Line pack caught the attention of the Shu Wei Clan Wolf and had brought the Wolf King's attention. After all, The Empress is always from Shu Clan Wolf.
This Shu Clan Wolf werewolf pack was known for their beautiful Omegas and their Alpha's monstrous intellect. They had mingled with the Xu royals enough to be part of the royal family.
Every King has Shu Clan Wolf blood running through their veins. Their beauty and intelligence were put to great use when they took the throne.
Shu Clan Wolf was of the prominent circles of the higher ranked city packs.
Because of this connection, the current Alpha was successful in expanding towards the city.
They had already establish a firm hold on the their neighbor town.
A big human town, almost the size of a city, where the governor was a powerful human hybrid.
If the pack did not become Golden Line pack, Gaines might not be comfortably reading books.
