A/n: I know there was a SEVERE lack of fluff in the last chapter, so I'm hoping this and the next make up for it :) Also... we explore another POV in this chapter
"RT!"
Robin's voice rang throughout the cave as we watched Red Tornado, the last member of the Justice League get disintegrated right before our eyes.
It's just the simulation, none of this is real.
I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath and letting it out.
"We are Earth's heroes now." Aqualad stepped forward, a solemn expression on his face.
"So what are we waiting for, a theme song?" Connor spoke up, getting impatient.
"A strategy," Aqualad replied. "Earth's weapons are ineffective, and it has been made tragically clear a direct attack will not succeed."
I swallowed the lump in my throat, thinking back to the look on Black Canary's face as the cruel orange disintegration ray swallowed her up.
It's not real, it's not real.
I've already kind of explained this... but over the last few months, I had begun to notice a sort of mother-like feeling from Dinah. It did make sense, I lived with her, and she provided for me... had been there for me. She resembled my biological mother so much... She really was like my mom now...
"Checking satellite imagery." Robin pulled up a holographic globe, red splotches covering different areas across the map. "Here's where the aliens are now."
"This one get lost?" Superboy pointed to a smaller red splotch in the Arctic.
"That's Superman's Fortress of Solitude!"
"Superman has a Fortress of Solitude?" Superboy sounded slightly offended.
"Its power source must have attracted the alien's attention," Rob concluded. "At least enough to send a scout ship to investigate."
"Must be some Fortress." Connor turned away, bitterness present in his tone.
"Connor," M'Gann comforted, walking up to him and placing her hand on his shoulder.
"No, it's okay," Connor retorted sarcastically. "Guess there's a lot about Superman I'll never know. Uh... you know... now."
"We will target this lone ship," Aqualad decided.
We're going to the Arctic...?
"Yeah! Break it down, build more! Hit those ugly aliens with their own mojo!" Kid cheered.
Artemis punched him in the arm, reminding him that three of us were aliens. Connor, M'Gann, and I all looked at Wally. I had my eyebrows raised.
"Uh..." He gave a nervous chuckle. "Not that all aliens are automatically ugly."
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped my lips. Yeah, Wally could be oblivious as hell sometimes, but he was funny. He was caring. He reminded me a lot of my big brother, Ky. I had been able to get to know Wally a lot more; him and Dick being 'best pals' and all. I had even told him my real name and my whole backstory. He was the only one on the team that knew my entire past, as he knew Dick's, too. It was nice being able to talk to someone else about everything that had happened.
"Let's get our camo on and get out there."
"Wait! Before we go..." I piped up. I explained my weakness to cold to the team and the reason behind it. I apologized for not saying anything sooner, too. It just hadn't come up; It wasn't a big risk until right now.
