It was a fairly regular day at Mount Justice; most of us were sparring—training, that is. I was nearby, working on my long-range lasers I'd been workshopping the last week or so. After recuperating from our last mission (which didn't take more than a day or so, after I was initially patched up all I had to do was listen to a few good songs and use the energy to heal), I'd finally gotten to share my discovery with Black Canary and clear it to be used on the field. She was excited for me, which made me so happy. It was... nice to have someone take pride in me, especially after feeling like a detriment to the team.

We were all working hard on our training today. Well... almost all of us. Wally sat close by, using Captain Marvel like a personal attendant. He'd hurt his arm pretty bad on our last mission, so he sat out training this week.

"Good work, everyone." Black Canary stepped up, smiling proudly. "In fact, it's been a very productive week."

The team stopped their sparring, I my target practice, and we all gathered around, happy to hear our coach singing our praises.

"Yeah, for everyone except Kid Malingerer," Artemis teased, grinning over at a very comfortable-looking Wally.

"Hey! Arm broken against the Injustice League here." He quickly defended.

Black Canary chuckled, shaking her head. "I've really enjoyed, uh, being your den mother this week."

I smiled, about to reply, when the robotic voice of the zeta tube spoke first. "Recognized—Zatara, 11" Zatara stepped in and pulled up a holographic screen to the zeta tube, granting access to a "Zatanna Zatara"

Wait... isn't that his daughter!? Shut up! I've been wanting to meet her so bad!

Now, I didn't know much about her, only that she existed. But I did know that her father used magic, and so she probably did as well. See, the music manipulation gifted to my people was a certain breed of magic that goes back millennium. At least, that's what I was told as a kid, anyway. I know the magic the Zataras use is different, but I still really wanted to connect with someone else here about our connection to magic.

Obviously, one of the first things M'Gann and I bonded over was our magical connections. She shared a lot about Martian rituals and traditions and whatnot. It was so great to be able to talk to someone else about it.

Sure, there was Aqualad... but he was just so... mature. It felt wrong to bother him with my childish endeavors. Looking back, he probably would've appreciated it. I just held him in such high regard... it felt borderline disrespectful to get all fangirly with him like that.

We all gathered closer to the zeta entrance, excited to meet who would hopefully be a new friend.

Oh... I really hope she joins the team!

"Zatanna, this is the team," Zatara introduced as she stepped through. "Team, my daughter, Zatanna."

Zatanna stepped closer to us. She looked... a little awkward as she looked around. But hey, I would be too if I just walked into a secret mountain hideout with a bunch of teenagers staring at me.

M'Gann stepped up first, but I was so excited to meet her I just couldn't help myself...

"Hi, I'm—"

"Nightingale! I'm Nightingale, sorry..." I interrupted M'Gann, jumping towards Zatanna and holding out my hand for her to shake. "You can just call me Gale, though. It's a little less of a mouthful, heh. Uhm..." After we shook, I pulled my hand away and rested it sheepishly behind my head, slightly embarrassed by my excitement. "Yeah! This is the team! That's Robin, M'Gann, Wally, Connor, Kaldur, and Artemis" I explained, pointing out each of my teammates.
