I walked to the market. The family and I were running low on food and other basic necessities.

"Hola señorita, ¿qué puedo conseguir para ti?"(Hello Miss, what can I get for you?) The shopkeeper said in a jovial tone as I looked around.

"Un poco de pan, manzanas y medicina." (Some bread, apples, and medicine). I don't need much, this will last us a few days. Besides, we barely have enough money to last us till tomorrow.

"Adios," I mumbled. I have a feeling that something bad will probably happen. Oh no, now I've jinxed myself. I walk down the dirt roads, feeling all each and every pebble underneath my wore out shoes. The sun was blistering hot.

"Hola señorita, ¿quieres compañía?"(Hey Miss, do you want some company?) The man asked, however, it sounded more like a demand.  I guess, I did jinx myself.

"No gracias, señor,"(No thank you, sir) I mumbled hastily. My steps became slightly more frantic. I could see the house in my view. The weight of the basket felt like it was increasing.

I could see the man glare at me from the corner of my eye. "Creo que quieres compañia,"(I think you want some company). Then I felt it. His hand covered my mouth, attempting to silence my screams. It was dark by now. Yet, the house was still in sight. I panicking seemed like the right thing to do at a time like this.

...I know that isn't true. I bit his hand, tasting the crimson that came along with it. He was caught off guard and let me go. I sprinted over to the house as ran as I could. Screaming my lungs out. The man caught me by the back of my collar and tossed me to the ground. I land with a thud.

In my dazed state, the man got on top of me wielding a knife. He got closer to my ear and said he owns me. Everything is going dreadful until I hear a gunshot.

The man on top of me collapses. Splatters of blood reach my face, as my heart beats rapidly.

"...N"

"(Name)"

"(Name)!"

I snap out of my daze, upon hearing my name. I looked up to see my beloved. I spring up and run into his arms.

"Fue horrible!"(It was horrible!) I cried in his embrace. It could have been so much worse.

"Se acabó. Estás seguro," (It's over. You're safe.) He reassured. The tears were still coming down my face and fast. "Vayamos adentro,"(Let's go inside) He grabbed my hand with one hand and the other was on the small of my back. He led me into the house, walking slowly to match my pace.

As we walked into the house his family walked up to us. That included his mother, father, and sister.

"Que paso mi querida amiga?"(What happened my dear friend?) Asked his sister. I wanted to answer, I just couldn't.

"Hablemos de esto mañana,"(Let's talk about this tomorrow) My beloved said. as we walked to our shared room.

We got into bed. Before I fell asleep I heard him whisper into my ear," I promise this won't happen again." I fell into a dreamless sleep.
